My advice would be to spend five minutes looking on the front page, you'll find at least one other person who is having a similar experience to you.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

With one exception. The OP in this thread claims to have turned data roaming off. So what next?Mortgage When Started in Dec 2006 = £160,699
Amount owing in Jun 11 = £128,400
Mortgage Free Date =Dec 2026 :eek:0 -

As per post #2,
55mb is no small hop of data, since the beginning of the month I have not used that on my phone (use data as I wish) I also have a mi fi dongle and hammering the usage with my ipod touch and netbook only used a small (less than 55mb total for all 3 devices since the beginning of the month) , I suppose if folk have smartphones and a susceptible to large bills for roaming then the solutions wouldbe to (a) take a none internet based handset with them on holiday (b) leave the phone at home, it seems for some taking the handset abroad is costing more trouble than it is worth and in fairness not essential , I suppose if NOBODY used their handsets abroad the price is more likely to drop than folk fighting against the ntetworks once they have recieved their bills.0 -

we went to spain mid august
my blackberry with me , and i had to answer almost all calls recieved, and i get quite a few in. i had to make calls too, and also had to check as fast as i could emails, ignoring the les important ones. having broken the keypad lock button sometimes i found my phone on my email page, which i think may consume data..not sure though
11 days there..when we came back i had bargained for about 200 and hope for less, but to my amazement only 17 quid..
i got my wife and baby to nandos to celebrate;)
no downloads, just email reads nd sends
im with 3, dont know how it may work for other networks
calls cheap , i knew 10 p to recieve, free to recieve text and 10 p to recieve0 -
There is an invaluable app on Androids and, presumably, on Iphones. It is a Data Usage app that tells you how much wi-fi and how much Cell data you have used.
If you had this and used it, you would see if you were using wi-fi or cell. Better to notice a couple of Mb and switch off completely rather than find out when you return home.0 -
