Ryanair condemns the UK Chancellor's unfair and regressive tax on ordinary passengers. Because of the flat nature of this tax, Ryanair's passengers - who enjoy the lowest average air fares in the UK - are paying the highest rate of tax (35%) while many of "Greedy Gordon's" friends and fellow politicians are still flying business class where this tax represents less than 5% of their air fare. This is just another example of politicians using the environment to grab further taxes from the travelling public.

    Not sure who i hate/distrust more .
    "greedy gordon" , or " Shylock O' Leary" .

would like to see them both out of the way.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
  • I have just checked the Ryanair site with the details I have had previously, i.e. on 11 December when I booked and 17 Jan when I checked again. I am travelling 1 Feb and returning 5 Feb. So I put in dates for the week before and the week after I travel and the fares were much the same. So I am left no further forward nor does it answer anyone else's questions. I will think about phoning but I don't know whether I have the patience - did you have to hold on for a long time when you phoned Ireland?

Quick update - have now had email from Ryanair saying they will take the money from the original card used to book (which is fine), so looks as though you don't need to actually do anything as such .... (other than pay more!!!)
  • Still no email from Ryanair. And I am unsure how much they will deduct from my account. I am flying out from and returning to an UK airport and my destination is in the EU. So does that make it £5pp (bearing in mind I have already paid £5pp towards APD) or £10pp? I booked before the announcement and travel 02/02.

See this thread for more details:

  • OK. Finally got my email but doesn't say how much they are charging me.
