I think its a great idea to post this sort of giveaway in the Freebies section of MSE, don't know about anyone else but I don't have time to go looking at a load of different sections for freebies, the only ones I ever check are Freebies and Low Spend (plus Grabbit coming up for Christmas). I really don't see any major problem with duplication of freebie posts, so long as there isn't more than one posted in the same section on the same day, I only ever bother going back a couple of pages to check through freebies and I'm sure I'm not the only one. There are hundreds of thousands of posts on here so a few duplicates really ain't gonna make that much difference. What would possibly make a difference is clearing out posts that are past a certain age (say 12 months), we might get better results from the site's useless search facility then.

quoia I'd no intention of poaching on anyone else's preserves, here. I simply posted in what seemed the most appropriate place. The more publicity for good freebies the better, IMO.

Yes but it's actually against MSE Forum rules by posting this sort of Freebie on this board.

I am sorry to be draconian, but having once had the might of Sainsbury legal department threaten this site because of these i need to protect the site. Having a specific board where the rules are prominently posted is how i do that.

The daily Newspaper Summary threads are on Discount Codes'n Vouchers because of this and I have previously asked that the CD & DVD Giveaways be moved there since more & more downloads seem to be offered rather than the physical media.

If that's the explanation for your unhappiness with this thread why didn't you just say so in the first place? It would have been so much more helpful.

My own view is that you're sticking to the rules a little too rigidly. This is a thread about some freebie downloads, not a code for a discount at a supermarket, and so is probably not the sort of thing that Martin's worried about. Perhaps, if you feel so strongly, you could just ask a moderator's opinion.
