Yes, I get "error" too, and for the zip version, "not found". I've emailed them.

It should be OK in the end as they did email confirmation of my orders.

Quoia is, of course, absolutely correct - you can probably find this info in the daily newspaper thread earlier than here - especially if that thread's updated just after midnight... (in case you're looking for it it's in the Discounts'n'vouchers board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38)

But many people will find it more easily in a thread like this one - and there's no problem in duplication, accidental or otherwise, if it helps people - which is, of course, what the forum is for.

Keep up the good work Quoia (and Nudge).

    Hi.

I think you missed the point of my "ALREADY POSTED" .....

it was in response to London££'s comment (that I "quoted" in highlight)

"looking forward to finding out tomorrow's offer code too"

which I had actually posted on MSE just after 8pm on Sunday evening.

I'll now post it here - NOW that it is actually Monday 19th ...............

    Tomorrow's Download - Monday 19th September

FREE - DOWNLOAD - AUDIO BOOK - #3 of 7 - JOHN LE CARRÉ COLLECTION - THE HONOURABLE SCHOOLBOY

    https://www.audiogo.co.uk/guardian-honourable-schoolboy - USE PROMO CODE schoolboy3

Available until 23:59pm on Sunday 25th September 2011

PERHAPS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO DOWNLOAD BEFORE TOMORROW

...... AND regarding my highlighted section of your post ....

the quote above is from a thread exactly as you describe that has listed ALL the FREE CDs ,CDROMs, DVDs, Audio Books, Spoken Word, Film & Music Downloads available from National Newspapers for almost 6 years - starting way back in October 2005

The Newspaper Summary is just a daily update/reminder (of currently valid offers - that may have be mentioned on MSE previously) that effectively exists for just the day in question, rarely longer - a focal point for the day - a thread that rarely exceeds a page in length facilitating ease of use and concentrating any discussion & issues on the subjects within it.

    Hi Quoia,

Yes, I had missed the fact that you'd already posted today's (Monday's) code at 8.00pm yesterday. This was because you didn't make it clear that was what you meant - and you didn't give a link to where you'd posted it. Apologies for misunderstanding - but you could have been a little clearer.

All of which reinforces my point that many casual users of the forum will find this sort of info more easily in a dedicated new thread. Yes the newspaper thread has been giving this type of info out for years, and yes that's good and wonderful and all that. So has the Giveaway CDs and DVDs thread.

But not all users are that strategic - and those threads are not on the freebies board. Most probably just come onto the freebies board and want to know what's newly available and free. So a thread here giving the codes for the Le Carre audiobooks is very helpful (Thanks Clemmatis for starting it). If it makes you happier we could just post a link to the newspaper thread every morning...

And this isn't a competition. It's not about who put what where first. It's about giving out information on saving money. And if it's easier to do that with information in more than one place to I really can't see a problem.

Now, in case it's lost in all this off-topic discussion, here's the info you posted earlier, again:

Thanks! Can I download direct to my Kindle? (new birthday toy ;)

Can't even download direct to my PC. been trying since Saturday, and none of the three books are downloading in either the download manager or the zip version. And no response from customer services to my email. Just because something is free is no excuse for shoddy service. It just gets the provider a bad reputation.

Maybe the problem is that I've only got slow 2 - 3 Mb broadband because I live in the wilds of the Peak District, and Grauniad readers are supposed to live in big cities.
  • Well .. I can't download either

Not zip files - not via Download Mangager

Not on Internet Explorer or Chrome

And this is on good fast broadband

    Very poor

If the offer is meant to encourage us to buy more BBC audiobooks, it isn't winning me over.

I have also written to Customer Service.
