Looks like rents have recovered from their recession induced fall and now rising strongly. We also have a lot more renters than we did in 2008, so there's further upward pressure.

    Don't be silly turnbull.

You can't use context and analysis like that.
Didn't your bullish chums tell you that what you're supposed to do is select two convenient points, ignore everything in the middle and declare that prices have stagnated.

I mean, its not as if we don't see a lot of the Straight Line method on this forum.

Bear in mind HA fair rent increases are based on inflation in September. In Sept 2009 this was negative so in effect the rise in April 2010 was a reduction.

  • House next to me is rented out while owners are overseas.

Was advertised this time last year and rented in a week. Advertised again last week with the rent £150 higher than last year, and it's rented already. Old tenant moving out today, new tenant due to move in on Monday. No void at all.

The rent is now £650 a month more than I'm paying for a full repayment mortgage, BTW.

Out here in the real world, rents are soaring.

  • Hi Geneer

How much has your rent gone up since you started renting? And how much since 2008?

    Best Regards

You've got it all wrong! Rents are actually down against gold and imported bananas

So just 2 years after the "great crash" that was "faster and bigger than the 90's", according to geneer, rents have reached a new record high.

And he's trying to claim this as a victory????

    Alrighty then.....

    Excellent news for renters.
According to LSL property services rents have risen by only a few quid in the last few years.

Appying the Bullish principle of selecting two arbitrary points and ignoring everything thats happened inbetween, we can safely conclude the rents have not only stagnated, but seen significant real term falls.
