I have received one of these 'offical' letter demanding money, after reading the advice given on this site and many many others I have ripped up the cheque that I was going to send them after a knee jerk reaction to this letter that the cheeky devils have made to look at much like a police letter as they dare. Thank you everyone that has taken the time and trouble to advise on this subject. I was parked in an Aldi car park that I used time after time and never ever found it half full never mind full. Over 20 years my husband and I must have spent thousands of pounds in Aldi, food, wine, beer, computer equipment, electrical goods, need I go on but I will NEVER visit this shop again and am seriously considering taking our custom away from this chain of shops.

Sadly you will find many companies who operate in the same way.

If you like shopping there do carry but just don't worry about the parking.

At our Aldi when you have paid at the till you then have to queue again to put your numberplate number into a machine on the wall (There is only one machine)
What I would like to know is what happens when the machine breaks down? Will we all be issued with fines
They really don't want our trade that much if they are getting so heavy handed and big brother with their customers who they don't seem to value much (Bloody foreign companies:mad::mad:)
Guess what we park at Asda then get my mobility scooter out of the car then shop at Aldi followed by Asda - best of both worlds :rotfl:

Why do you have to put your numberplate info into a machine?

There is only ever one till open and its usually run by a dyslecic 12 year old who hasn't a clue as to what he is doing..

Having a cheap laugh at someone who is dyslexic (note the spelling) is deplorable. Even more so when your own spelling abilities leave something to be desired!

To OP....as others have said Pepipoo advice is to ignore all correspondence.

    Hi,
I too have had to misfortune to overstay the quoted parking time limit at Aldi. This was in Fareham, Hampshire, and my so called parking stay was for 1 Hour and Forty two minutes. Suffering from M.E. I had forgotten to put my watch on, and had not looked at a clock to check the time of my arrival. Although I did have an Opticians appointment first, I did actually shop at ALDI's on my return, and probably spent some time browsing, shopping and then queing before getting back to my car.
I must admit that I had always thought that their parking limit was 2 Hours, but now I know that it is shorter.
Having just received a Parking Charge Notice from Parking Eye, dated some 9 days after the event, I searched the Internet for views on this Company. Having now read the many messages regarding these 'PCN's' I will not pay the requested charge of £40, even though this charge will be increased to £70 on 25th June.
I would like to ask whether any recipient of these PCN's has visited the Offices of the parking Eye Admin branch.
I hope that I have done the right thing by not paying this charge, even though they know my full name and address, and the details of my car.
Any agreement of this action, or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Just ignore their letters, reminders, final reminders, "debt collector's" letters and "solicitors" letters. If you respond in any way they will have hooked you and you will only lengthen the process before they eventually give up.

    Hi,
Have now received another letter re my parking at Aldi, this letter being from csscollect, Debt Collectors. Has anyone else noticed that their address is the same as that of ParkingEye. Also, they have the same Bank details.
I hope that the Inland Revenue are aware of both companies.

Incidentally, the earlier letter from ParkingEye, which shows so called pictures of my vehicle, only shows the times of entering and exiting the Car Park. Surely, to serve any such fine shouldn't Proof be available showing the actual times that the vehicle was actually parked! One could have been driving around waiting for a space, or even picking up your spouse/partner before loading up your shopping!
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

DELBOY52 - I don't suppose you actually kept a copy of the receipt from Aldi? If so it will show you paying at about the time they ticketed you. I assume you have a doctor's note about your ME? This would delay your shopping so I think you could (if you really wanted to) contact them saying you cannot do your shopping in the time allowed due to your ME. And I very much doubt if Aldi's has a clock in it, not everyone wears a watch, it is unreasonable for them to expect you to know the time if they do not provide a clock.

That said, you don't have to pay anyway, it just might get the debt collectors off your back.

My daughter got "caught" by another parking company in shopping area nearby with several different shops. The parking attendant claimed she had left the area. Thank God she actually bought something in the area (we sent a copy of the receipt in and they let her off) or we would still be having to tell debt collectors to get stuffed!

I suspect the letter from CSS debt collectors is a scare tactic, and I would also be wondering if Inland Revenue knew about it.

As for driving around in the car park, loading up the car and picking people up, their response would probably be that you were still using the car park.

As long as people keep paying these fines then companies like this will prosper. Somehow it has to be made clear to everyone that they do not have to pay - this site has made a start on that.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • Hi, I am new to Forum , I should like to thank all for their informative contributions on the parking fine issue.
I am also in receipt of a 2nd letter with photographs of entrance and exit, I had a 14 mins over stay, this is parking eye in Aldis, I sent a short appeal off Showing My receipts for a £80.oo spend all kosha, but my time on till receipt falls short of my departure by an hour, nipped off to see my mum and didnt give it a thought, If spent over £30 , BUT on exact time, says standard letter obtained from manager, might get let off, but my appeal was ignored.Ia m hopeing that it will go away , having read about other peoples experience, cheers.
  • For anyone who might be interested, after my second, letter from parking eye ,a few days later .they have cancelled the charge and there is no outstanding payment, luckily I did not bottle it and send the payment without an appeal, thank you to every one for sharing their experiences.:T

For anyone with questions about parking tickets THIS thread is what you should be looking at.

We got a parking ticket at Aldi in Buxton last September and I referred to this thread, I never paid anything and the letters dried up after about the fourth.

    HTH.

Absolutely gutted about Paul Walker - RIP xx
