Anyone had any problems parking at Aldi.
My local store which I use wekly as a 90 minute limit. I stayed 10 mins over during the busy xmas perioda and have recived a £40 penalty notice from a company called " Parking Eye". They use a number plate recognition systen to capture your car details and trace you home address.
OK I know you have to control parking, but a pretty inflexible system which does not do a lot for customer care/retention.

try putting pen to paper explaining the busy period etc..... you got nothing to lose, my hubby got a letter (not a fine) for parking for 4 hours in tesco...... he works there though:rotfl: :rotfl: silly people0

If you were genuinely in the shop for that time, then go and see the manager of the shop. Explain to him the fine and that his actions in dealing with the matter (ie. tearing up the fine or not) will affect your future choice of supermarket.
If he fails to budge, don't shop there again or phone or write a letter to head office and explain. I don't see why they shouldn't take back the fine and have a word with the company.
This method of parking seems completely mad and allows for no movement. I don't see why there isn't a £2 charge for 2 hours, refundable at the shop when you go to the checkout.0 -
1.5 hours in Alid - you could buy the whole shop!
As long as they made it clear it's going to be tough to fight.0 -
Great shopping tip here! Don't overstay your parking limit.0

I would reckon it depends on the time given on your till receipt (if Aldi do have time and date stamped receipts).
If it clearly demonstrates that you were shopping for all that time in store, I'd reckon they'd have to be pretty flexible.
If not, your local newspaper will love this story. A letter to Aldi HQ mentioning that the press will be your next step may help you.
Hope all goes well."we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist"0 -
tell them you went off and came back on. Not your fault if their spy equipment failed to spot you.S!!!!horpe0

i think dazco's idea sounds worth a shot, just say you forgot something and came back.Don't ask me, Im SKINT0

Take it up with store first - most of the restrictions are really there to stop non-customers, especially if theirs is closest to a town centre.0

I got hit with a fine last year when I'd been in twice in one day. I went a tad ballistic, writing to the shop, local rag and my MP. Within a week of publishing my letter in the paper, I had a response from the MP (asking 'questions'), a response from some Home Office flunky (It's all for your own good and if you didn't like it you should have seen the plans in.... - Think HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy) and a series of calls from the Aldi regional manager saying sorry for the inconvenience, the parking fine is rescinded.
It helped that I'd taken the kids to the cinema in the intervening period and had a timed ticket from a parking meter elsewhere in town (don't suppose you know anyone who's been parked elsewhere?). Personally I find these guys to be pretty carpy (anag) and the DVLA's cavelier approach to the Data Protection Act (selling your details to the parking company for profit) is appalling.
Hope you get to kick some A$$. I'd say negative publicity is the way to go.
Best of luck

I usually find you could buy the whole shop in 15 minutes !
It's the 1.5 hours waiting in line for the checkout that causes the problem.
On a serious note, if you were only 10 minutes over time, you might want to bring this up as a reason for going overtime. I would think any manager would believe this story !!Bad Spellers of the world untie0
