How to get rid of bathroom mould?

I like the polycell mould killer, it leaves a strong fungicide residue on the surfaces you clean with it so that the mould doesn't return for a good long time. However, if you replace your bathroom cleaning products with ones that kill mould (ammonia is great) and use them regularly then the mould shouldn't get re-established. Regular detergents don't kill mould and cloths/brushes you might be using just help spread it around. Clean with something that kills the mould and throw out the cloth every time until the problem is under control (supermarkets sell value range sponges cheap enough for this).0

Here's a third recommendation for the HG Mould Remover that Lakeland sell.
I'd tried absolutely everything to get rid of the mould and orange yummy stuff around my bath but this stuff really works. I didn't believe it would so I was very happy.
I also use the Shower Clean from Lakeland that you spray onto the tiles and mastic-y stuff after every shower and my bathroom looks pristine for the first time in years! :T0 -
Another vote for HG Mould Remover, which we get from our local Homebase. I got a bottle for my mum and did her shower for her, she had tried everything before that. Here's a third recommendation for the HG Mould Remover that Lakeland sell.

I can recommend 'Hagesan mould remover spray' - search ebay or Amazon - strong stuff but works well on black mould & the pink stuff. I don't think you can ever completely stop it, bathrooms being what they are. It's one of those boring facts of life for me that I have to re-silicone every year or so!
well today i was thinking to myself I would have to replace the silicone every year and thought that sounded daft, but if others have to do it then maybe its not sio daft......You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
I used the dettol mould and mildew remover and it works wonders. Pretty cheap to from wilkos.0

We never had a problem with mould in our bathroom until we had the loft double insulated and we have an extractor fan and have fitted a bigger btu radiator, so DH thinks that the people who did it didn't leave a breather gap around the eaves so he is going into the loft to see if this is the cause. But now we have to replace the ceiling because it has all blown and replaster, that is ok though because the bathroom was next on the list of renovation.
Bleach or Tea tree oil kills mould spores BTWBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I second using a shower clean after every shower, however, I just use what's on offer in the supermarket. Works though, shower still looks in good nick after nearly 3 years of it being installed.
I also leave the window slightly open all day during the summer and for a couple of hours in the morning in winter (if I can stand it!
).
Dettol do a great mould remover, smells just like a swimming pool!
Despite all of the above, I still find a little bit of 'defiant' mould tries to get through, just something I have to live with, I suppose.
BTW - I also get a bit of that pink/orange stuff under the shower screen 'lip' What on earth is that stuff, a different colour mould?
EDIT - Thanks Muks11, that's the stuff I meant!It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?0 -
Best stuff is the Lakeland HG Mould Remover. After each shower we always use a squegee and wipe down the silicon with a dry cloth.:hello:0

I found a big thread on here last week about cleaning mould and now I can't find it! Typical.
The main suggestion on that thread was to mix bleach and bicarb of soda and use a paintbrush to paint it on to the tiles. Leave it for a few hours (or overnight) and then scrub off next day with a toothbrush and rinse well. I used it on my ensuite (which was disgusting from when we moved in and I have never got rid of the mould despite using loads of the dettol stuff) and the transformation was almost instant (with minimal scrubbing). There were also suggestions to go over grout with the white stuff you get for trainers and then wipe of the excess (but I haven't tried this as I was happy with how my bathroom cleaned up without it).
I think I read that the pinky stuff is limescale? The bleach/bicarb worked on that too.0
