Transferring emails to Outlook

Okay, let me explain what I did a few weeks ago when my HDD was playing up. I wanted to transfer everything over to a new HDD including my Plusnet emails from Outlook 2007. In Outlook I had also added my Hotmail Address so I created a file in Hotmail and cut and pasted all my emails from my other email address into that file. It was then 'in the cloud' so to speak.
When I loaded Outlook onto my new HDD I downloaded the Hotmail connector and all my Hotmail emails were there including the created file. All I did was to create my Plusnet account and then transfer the emails back to where the belonged.
If you can do the same with Thunderbird then your problem is solved. I don't use Thunderbird so I can't suggest any more - it's for you to experiment with, so have fun.0 -
I have a large back up file from about five years emails (over 50Mb) - from Thunderbird that I have sucessfully restored back to Thunderbird - but I also have Outlook 2007, which I am trying to restore these emails to...
Thunderbird is limited in what can be exported and imported - to PCV back up file - which has previously described (correctly) as a ZIP file.
If I try "forwarding" via Hotmail / the cloud - won't my emails will then all "appear" to be sent from my hotmail account0 -
Did you not read this? When I needed to go the other way - from Outlook to Thunderbird - I used the free T'bird extension ImportExportTools.
I'm fairly sure it will work just as well in reverse, exporting as .eml format.
Download the ImportExportTool extension into Thunderbird.
Then use it to Export in whatever format you want.0 -

No, because in Outlook you can move files to wherever you want to. If you have Thunderbird configured to receive your hotmail emails as well as any other address you may use, then create a folder for the non hotmail emails in hotmail, and then move them over into the folder. They will then be in the 'cloud' and when you open your accounts in Outlook then you will see your hotmail folder and you can then transfer the emails back again. I also moved all my contacts into hotmail and duplicated them to work with my other email address as well.
It may sound complicated and I must admit that it took me quite a while to fathom out how to do this, but once I had it took me a few minutes to transfer.0 -
If you were using Outlook 2007, how come you copied the emails into Hotmail and then transferred back. Why didn't you just copy the PST file off the old hard drive, and then copy it back onto the new one and point Outlook to it. Your pst file contains all your emails, contacts and calendar entries etc.0

Because I didn't want the risk of losing anything. Secondly, I wanted to do this as an experiment to see if it would work with minimal risks. I like to experiment with alternative ways of doing things that are different from what's written in the 'book'.0
