Orange rentention deal

I'm at the end of my Orange contract, Orange have offered me a HTC Mozart (my choice as I don't really want an IPhone) with 800 minutes, 250 texts, and 500mb of data for £26.05 pm. This price is also supposed to be discounted to compensate me (slightly) for several years subscription to an Orange service I never used and was unaware I was paying for.
I never use that many texts (maybe 100), my minutes usage sits around the 400-500 mark (I use it for work) and I feel more data could be useful, despite having not used this feature before.
Could anyone advise if that's a good deal in comparison to what i may receive as a new customer with other providers?

sounds a lot to me too....
I'm almost a year into my contract with Orange. Currently getting 300mins/unlimited texts and 500mb for £17.50p/m. I got the Mozart (which is a great phone by the way!) and made an initial £50 contribution for the phone. This wasn't a retention offer, I'm new to Orange.

Thanks for your replies. I think I'll go into town later and drop into the 02, Voda and T-Mobile shops and see what they have to say.

Just to clarify, I'd be getting the phone for free, and I've been subscribed to TrafficTV for years and not realised it, which is what they are supposedly compensating me for.

The airtime you need costs £10. So, you are paying 24x£16=£375 for the phone that cost no more than £240 sim-free.
    As simple as that.
  • The Mozart is being replaced very soon so I'd imagine Orange are trying to get rid of their existing stock, you can do better
  • If you haven't already - request your PAC from Orange. You could say that given the Mozart is an older handset you would expect a lower monthly cost ... see what they can do.

I've been to a couple of shops this afternoon (one of which also offered logbook loans, which I found a little off-putting). Both shops offered better deals than Orange have offered me. I'll ask for my PAC on Monday by which time I should know what I'm having.

    Thanks for all the replies.

Why shops, not online? Is it only Mozart that you want?

I'm open to almost any smart phone (my first one). I've looked at a couple of other HTC's (Desire S being the better one) a couple of Samsung's (Galaxy Mini and Galaxy Ace), all on T-Mobile. I only started looking at the Mozart as it's a windows phone and I'm not struck on the idea of an Iphone.

I'll be honest, I'm up for almost any brand of phone that will last, and on any network. If you know of a website or deal available, lets have it! :) I need approx 500mins, 100-200 texts and enough data to play around on the internet and google stuff when I'm out and about, no facebook or other spurious use.
