Is this a good deal from Tesco

Options
Tesco currently have a promotion for PAYG simcards, whereby a £10 card receives double extra, ie £10 card + £20 = £30 and likewise with multiple's.

Does anyone know of a better deal please?

Is there a catch ie high charge per minute compared with other providers?

The user aim to use the new PAYG card in an old phone and have new number, so that callers for his business go through that phone only.

God knows - depends on how many minutes/texts you are getting.
Personally I would look at giffgaff or lebara (plenty of mins/texts and even some internet with regular top ups).
  • Heres the catch

Calls 25p Voicemail 15p Texts and you have to use the not so free credit it up every month.

Tesco promotions don't go on forever.

In a month or so the offer will have ended and you will be stuck with whatever they next come up with.

As suggested above, take a look at giffgaff. Their prices for payg are going up shortly to 10p/min for call and 6p per text but their goodybags can offer excellent value if used appropriately. They also use the O2 network (like Tesco) so no problem if your phone is locked to O2
  • Tried to sign up to Tesco a few months ago and they ended up taking my money and doing nothing. Fortunately my bank got the money back for me as Tesco showed little interest in putting things right. I've now been with giffgaff for just over a week and I'm very happy so far. I'm kind of glad that things went wrong with Tesco as I would never have found giffgaff otherwise.

    James.
  • Tesco also do a 'Tesco lite' pay as you go tariff. I believe calls are 8p per minute and texts are 4p each.

I bought a Tesco 'triple credit sim card', then changed to the lite tariff after the free credit had run out (it runs out after a month). You can change tariffs online.
  • as Oneaday said try giffgaff I am on that sim is free plus if you get a friend on you get £5 on your phone and you can put as little as £5 on and free calls to other giffgaff users
