Converting a Brand Snob

Interesting thread.
Food Brands; Don't care as long as it tastes good.
Clothing Brands;
If basic threshholds for temperature and decency have been satisfied. If no appendages are freezing or sticking together, and if no private parts are swinging around in plain view, then the objective of clothing has been met. Anything else is a waste.
Domestic Appliance Brands;
This one is different. Lowest price isnt necessarily the cheapest option in the long run. I would be more inclined to go with a brand i knew than one i didnt........after a lot of shpping around of course0 -
We put aldi ketchup in a plastic heinz bottle and fooled brother in law!
Husband worked in a quiche factory as a student said the same quiches went to aldi and to m and s !0 -
im a brand snob to a degree i.e kellogs,typhoo,nescafe,muller,washing powders i am branching out to more of tescos own stuff but it has been a difficult time
as for electrical goods will only buy sony,bosch,toshiba,panasonic,dyson and the likes as i do believe they are better value for money in the long run
but one thing i will not compromise on is brown hp sauceneed to have a lightbulb moment0 -
I only buy Fairy too however, noticed whilst washing up at parent's house. Tesco own brand ( in the clear bottle) seemed pretty good too. Check out Asda's 3 for £2 offer on fairy0

I would say I am trying hard to break the habit but I tried Tesco and Asda dishwasher tablets and all my cutlery started to get stained but as soon as I went back to the usual Finish tabs they all came up sparkling again and I no longer buy Heinz beans but my cat would rather starve than give up her whiskas :rotfl:#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Yep its all a con - remember the supermarkets dont make the stuff they sell it. Most of it is made by the leading brands and reboxed - its just a case of trying the different brands and eliminating. The forum above has all the answers. Asda have a hint now when it says compare to the leading brand on the box (erm is this because its made by a top company).
After a recent food scare a few months ago all the curries where removed for a top manufacturer and oddly enough all the own brand stuff for most of the stores as well - tell me now they dont make them all.
Just try the cheaper brands are better now than they ever were.Aint got a signature - as I cant think of anything world wisely to say.0 -

My cats are fussy !!!!!!s too! I can slip asda cat food in every now and then but Felix is the fave. Someone at work's got her cats on the Lidl dry stuff, they love it. Mine stuck their noses up at it0 -
My OH says there are 2 possible outcomes -
1 she thanks you for helping her see she was wrong
2 you're flayed alive
I think I know which is most likely!
He thinks you are only at phase 1 though. The next stage is to get own brand with "whoopsie" stickers (ie near their sell-by date). He has filled a whole basket for a fiver
ps - Lapat, Brown sauce HAS to be Daddies!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

my hubby would only eat heinz baked beans until i opened a tin and every bean was split and mushy, he moaned about cheap branded beans and then ate his word when i shown him the tin lol
he dont complain about shops own beans any more he preferes them0 -
We don't like Heinz beans here they are too sweet, just found Aldi's own are as nice as any we have had.0
