Sending multiple text messages

I know little about "texting" so would appreciate some information on the following question:-

I need to set up a "prayer chain" for my local church whereby a message could quickly be sent to members if an emergency arises. We are looking to send 50 identical messages at a time. We have been using emails but this is unsatisfactory as some people do not pick up their emails for days.

I only have a fairly basic Nokia phone operating on O2 with no free texts but seem to recall that some websites will let you send (free?) text messages. Would any of these have the equivalent of the email Address Book where you can set up groups?

Any suggestions for achieving the rapid dispatch of these messages at minimal cost would be much appreciated. Thanks.

in your phone depending on ur model,. make a distribution list,. add every ones number to the list and when u send the txt it will send to all on the list,.

and these free sms websites - i think they sell on ur phone numbers,. u'll have to read the t&c of the site tho as im not 100%,.

Free sms sites was discussed here recently. Although the o2 site is good you only get 10 free texts per month which isnt much use to you. Some of the other free sms sites just arent reliable and you may be better paying.

justpaper, thank you. If I put 50 addresses into a distribution list would I be charged for one text or 50 with O2?

That's what I was afraid of!!!

Is there ANY way to send 50 emails cheaply all at once? Or do we just give up!

50 emails? If you mean texts, no there is no cheaper way!

u might me better off getting a contact with 500 free txts would cost about 13 quid per month,. or just get a cashback deal with high txts.
