Online is a very black and white method. Telephone may be better in this case. I would be wary of Swinton though. They have a poor reputation on service which is quite deserved.

Speaking from an Insurers perspective you really shouldn't worry about it.

Cancellation of policy is only a bad sign if it was cancelled for one of the following reasons:

Fraud
Non disclosure of information
Falsifying application information

Cancellation because of a financial issue isn't really something to worry about. And the vast majority of insurers shouldn't really hold it against you

Managed to track down her previous insurer and although they wont / cant insure her again they are sending on her proof of no claims - which turns out to be a not insignificant 7 years worth.

If not Swinton who else would you advise me to speak with?

All sorted - Fully Comp policy now in place with Protected No Claims for a smidgen over £400.

Much, much better than the worst case scenarios we were looking at online last night.

I'm off for a lie down now.
