Bought one of these and am using it to measure wood. The only issue I find is I'm sure what bit of the wood I should be measuring - for example, I can measure into the bark and get a reading of 30-40%; or I can measure the ends of the wood, where I've split the log, and get under 20% for the main body of the wood.
Anyone know what way I should be doing this?? Thanks.

Split it in half (length wise) and measure it along the "newly" exposed length (nearest the middle).
To be fair i don't know if that is right or not mind
I'd assume the outside and ends would be the driest by air exposure.0
