Looking to downgrade contract on vodafone

I pay £46 pm on my vodafone contract, I no longer use the amount of minutes that I am allocated and want to change onto a cheaper tariff. Is there any way that you can downgrade tariff? Or any way I can cancel my contract because of this...I'm only a few months into the contract.

Not as early as this. I think once you have reached x months you can downgrade one level, bu thats it. The 18/24 month contract cost is used to subsidise the cost of your handset...0

Because of what?
You took this tariff because this was the only way to get a new expensive phone for free or with a big discount.
You like the phone but you don't like the tariff.
Because of this you want to cancel the contract or downgrade the tariff after a few months and keep the phone.
Correct?
Do you really think that this can be a valid reason for cancellation?
AFAIK, old tariffs did allow downgrading to the next lower plan in the middle of the minimum term, but this is not the case for the new tariffs.
However, there can be other valid reasons. One is being discussed now on the fist page of the board.0 -

I have had some hours cut at work so I am hoping to save some money. I admit originally it was for a super phone but now my circumstances have changed.0 -
You wont be able to downgrade, all tariffs are Your Plan (YPL), non downgradable.
Its a shame you didnt read the terms and conditions before you agreed the contract, you would have seen that you are only able to increase the tariff.
If you are having a problem with the bill due to your hours being cut at work, you will need to call Vodafone and arrange a payment plan which you can afford. This will mean having an outgoing call and text bar on your phone until the account is up to date.
The change of ownership is always another option if you know of anyone willing to take over the contract.
You could always sell the phone and get yourself a cheap PAYG phone to use on your contract, or use the proceeds toward paying off part of your remaining line rental.0 -

That's the best reason for NOT entering into a commitment for something so fickle as a mobile phone. Circumstances can change - contracts do not. Find a friend or family member who likes the handset and deal you got, and see if they will take over the contract, officially. This releases you and ties them instead, but it might work. There are also websites that match up those wanting a cheap contract and phone and will take over the remaining period, but if trhe contract is new, there may be not much interest.0 -

Can you point me in the right direction as to what websites they are?0 -
Not sure if you've rang voda or how long you've been with them but I gave them a call to try and downgrade, said they wouldn't but knocked off £5 a month till the end of my contact as I've been with them 10 years.0
