When typing a capital I

Probably me being dim,but can anyone tell me why sometimes my capital I, only has the bar at the top and bottom some of the time.

If it happens with Word or a word processor, maybe the font used is like that
It should not change if the font used is the same0 -

Depends if the font is a serif font or sans serif. Sans serif wont have the twiddly bits on the end of the strokes0

It will depend on what text font you are using. If you are using the same font all the time the I should always look the same. If your font is changing - the I will change too.0

I always use the same font.I have just entered some magazine competitions,and one of the answers was I,but when i typed the letter in capitals,it was minus the the top and bottom bars.0
