Did you pay by credit card by any chance? If you did, go for a chargeback.

  • I think that you mean a section 75 claim Flyer.
It will probably be far to late for a chargeback and even if it wasn't, these are generally used when goods don't arrive, are not as described or when a S75 claim can't be done.

Correct Shaun. He can make a Section 75 claim.

Ask them to explain why they want you to pay for a repair when they have agreed to honour the warranty. Then take it from there.

This is the obvious next step. If you're still within warranty, and they've not already looked at it for you (which I'm guessing by the sound of it they've not), then they shouldn't be telling you they'll charge you for a repair when you still have warranty cover.

Thats why I said unless they've looked at it already. I didn't get the impression the new company even know what the fault is,'but were still telling OP that service is chargeable. If it's a warranty repair (as OP seems to believe, for whatever reason, it should be) then it's free of charge as the new owners have agreed to honour this service. Basically they'll get whatever they would have got from the previous owners: a free repair under warranty, or a chargeable one of it's not covered.

Sounds like it's overheating, have you checked the fans to see if they are working and they are clear of dust.
