    hey
just wondering if anyone can tell me how long roughly recorded delivery might take ?
im waiting for delivery of a high value item, auction ended 08/09/11 and item was posted 13/09/11 when i look at the order details it says item was sent recorded delivery.
for such a high value item i would have expected really to have it already as most people would send special delivery - does recorded sometimes take a couple of days to come through ?
im just starting to get a little worried and im hoping it doesnt come to a dispute
    thanks for reading :)

posted the 13th,as in 2 days ago
    come on
it could have been posted after last collection on the 13th
so only collected on the 14th
its the sellers problem to get it to you
if recorded came as quick as SD all the time then what would be the points(and £5 cost difference) in SD?

You can open an INR claim in paypal from 7 days after payment and normally I would suggest waiting longer than that for standard post but if you do feel there is something odd going on here then you are perfectly able to open a claim at that point.

regardless of what the pst office counter tells you ... the mail is processed on a priority scale on a 24 hour basis .... special delivery is dealt with 1st within a couple of hours of entering the depot ... there is a seperate section of posties too sort this ( they are usually fast sorters and have been picked by the management for this task ) then 1st class recorded parcels then 2nd class recorded ... then these posties return back too the main sorting parcel sections ,,, lsm or impex sorting machines ... belfast post is stored in large blue cages each depot has certain days when this is sent...... last too be processed is 3rd class mail .... this is junk mail sent by weight not individually priced ; parts for british gas are transported on a similar priority basis straight in straight out ; as are dss payment cheques ... dvla letters... ... and bills that come through the royal mail at xmas time

I didn't know you could send 2nd class recorded.
    Good luck op

Did you not? You can add recorded to letters, large letters & packets. First or second class.

You can also add just the recorded bit to a prepaid envelope if you want.

(I spend w-a-y too much time in that post office, lol)
  • Worst way to send anything of value and not worth the paper its written on when making a claim. As pointed out just a signed for 1st or 2nd class mail. Most posties leave and sign themselves, anything of value should always be special delivery.

How many posties do you nkow to come to that conclusion?
Or is it just the massive weight of about 20 people's opinions on here?
