what you lookin for mummy?it to be real cheap? Is it a party weekend?
well i went to uni in aberdeen and its a good night out, not as big as glasgow or edinburgh though, everythings pretty central to find and there's a travel lodge smack bang in the centre.

Edinburgh has loads of good nightlife,, has all different tastes and so does glasgow, i'm not sure about hotels to stay in though, not been much help sorry.

Come to Chester- excellent shopping, historic sites- roman and tudor, chester zoo- with ice rink- good night out with plenty of places to choose from and can be covered in 2/3 days. large outlet village for bargains but lots of unique shops on the rows and the river, cathedral, amphitheatre and walls to wonder round. i would finish with a trip to the deva stadium but league two football may be one step too far for you!
  • My personal choices

Edinburgh ; Great Night out around the grassmarket, good shopping and plenty of history

Leeds ; Good shopping & good bars & restaurants

Manchester & Newcastle ; Both as Leeds

Just depends exactly what you are looking for in respect of a night out and accommodation etc

  • OOps sorry about the double post there
  • hi- manchester sounds good, been trying to look it up online-seems like quite a bit of choice for a good w/end. ideally a mix of shopping, somewhere nice to eat/stay with a bit of partying thrown in to finish things off but yeah obv not expensive...read a lot about the gay village. Do u actually have to be gay to go? that prob sounds like a really stupid question doesnt it? its just that it sounds like something totally different from what i am used to and the reviews all sound like it'd be worth a visit. Is there any other parts of manchester good at night? thanks
  • You can't beat Newcastle - the party capital of the North!

No, you don't have to be gay to go to the Village although it might be better to stick to the bars - Taurus, Velvet, Queer, Rembrandt etc rather than the clubs.

Ibis Hotel is quite close to the Village and reasonable.

The Castlefield area also has loads of "trendy" bars.

You could also pay a visit to the Hilton Hotel and have a cocktail in the bar on 30 something floor which apparently affords stunning views - but not at night!!!

Deansgate locks is nice in Manchester and there are lots of cheappie hotels that are good. I personally love Leeds as something spexial but I do have Manchester on my doorstep. Shopping is good in both!
