does anyone know how to put kindle books into " folders" on the kindle..?
If you download Kindle Collection Manager (free) you can plug your kindle into your pc, and from there you can sort your books into your collections folders on the pc. Less fiddly than doing it on kindle, especially if you have a lot of books.
One other tip - if you google you will find that lots of people complain that the kindle slows down and starts crashing after a year or so. I have found that this happens when too many books are stored on the device. I have an older keyboard kindle which is supposed to be able to hold around 3000 books - but actually it cannot cope effectively with more than about 300 before crashing. So it is useful to delete from the device books you have read/no longer want to read (you don't lose them and it is easy to do a keyword search connected to wifi to retrieve a book from your amazon library)
If your kindle does start crashing, it is easy to do a factory restore. This removes all books and you then re-register the device to your account, and redownload the books you want to keep on the device.I'm a retired employment solicitor. I think that Santa will send me a Kindle for Christmas, so I did a bit of research to find free books to download. Found loads, if you like the Classics!. I also found about a zillion books telling me where to find free books, ( I rather suspect they will all be pretty similar.) Most of these publications are costing under £!, so still pretty cheap. But I wonder if anyone could reccomend a definitive title to invest in. I don't mind investing, but would rather save the dosh towards a really good title!0

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet with Kindle software.
If you go onto the Kindle Store website and type in free books there are literally thousands of them - not just the classics. Some are rubbish but others are good.0 -
If you get a KOBO ereader instead of a Kindle you will also be able to borrow library ebooks.
The UK library ebook format (epub) works with every ereader except the Kindle (US libraries use a different format).0
