    I chanced it & pinched 2 days, giving us an extra 4 days holiday :D

    £75 was excellent if that's return not one way - best I could see for us was £125.

    Good for you. Yes, £75 was return - bargain!

    Makes a change for us up north to get a flight a bit cheaper.:)
    Hope is not a strategy.

    Kicking myself a bit, I had neglected to get in early for my June 2012 half term flights (x4) and bought them today - £380.

    Checked what I paid for roughly same 10 days this year - £260.

    Scared to tell the better half :D:D:D:D:D

    Shows the importance of getting in early.

    Soooh... set yourself a challenge to claw it back on the other costs . At the end of the day, it's the bottom line that counts. But yes, timing is v important on flights- the cheap early releases, and then the second wave of cheapies around three months before you travel.

    Still can't believe I found an economy class hire car today for a week at Feb half term in the Algarve for £44 - 7% cashback. Use freebies and offers wherever possible. Where are you off to?
    Hope is not a strategy.

    I have decided to preserve anonymity on forums a few years back but it is the land of my wife and it is in Europe not UK

    :D:beer::D:beer::D

    You are absolutely right: the challenge is overall success/win - not the casual loss of £100 by bad timing on flights (I screwed up once but usually get it right!)

    Fair enough, know exactly what you mean. I too have a continental spouse, but we will not be heading to the land of his forefathers, I prefer a little more sunshine in my more mature years.

  • Thanks too! Yesterday morning I managed to book flights in August to Menorca for 4 for a total of £290. Just looking at accommodation now. It works out considerably cheaper than booking a package deal.
  • Ok, sorry if this is a stupid question, but are the prices released now likely to be the best prices? Are they likely to stay at these prices for long? Many thanks!
    :DPlease, pretty please!:D
