If you get BT to install the line, you'll have to agree to at least an initial 12 month contract and switching to Sky will mean breaching that contract and consequent penalty charges.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

So better to get Sky to install your BT line.
The postcode issue will arise regardless of your provider, as it's BT who ultimately do the install.

You cannot have Sky Broadband anymore without taking their line rental as well,so best wait til you can order when you move in and have Sky arrange both.
