  • OK, its a bit extreme, but last year I decided I wanted to do some extreme things I have never done before before I am 30. I did a bungee jump, loved it so much I did another the day after. The week after, I learnt I was 6 weeks pregnant! OOOoops, also something I have never done before.
Bungee is the type of thing you do spur of the moment, I dont think I could have done it if I had too much time to think about it.

I think it must be the time of year - new year blues and all that! when I think about it, I am doing new stuff all the time and didnt realise it!

plus - we do have quite a busy social life

these are all new plans since the beginning of the year

I am taking part in a murder mystery night next month.
    going to my first festival!
going to a spa for the first time this week

I already do quite a bit of crafts and had thought about the soap and candlemaking, thanks for that!

have done lots in the past volunteer wise and dont want to go down that route - at the moment - I do feel thats a very valid point though, you do get more out of something when helping others. I do a couple of volunteer things at the moment anyway.

we too do the 'cooking something different'

am seriously considering doing a charity trek, just waiting to see if one comes of somewhere I would like to go, I dont know where that is yet! how I would love to 'panda keep' how exciting!

thanks for all your thoughts, can count this as another new thing!

hi Carolbee, let me know how you get on with the candle and soap making and I'm going to buy some stuff tonight and try and start it soon. The charity trek idea is great, I've always wanted to do something like that, but unfortunately I temp for a living so would never be in one place to make friends to plunder them for sponsorship! In 2009 I'm going to walk the wall of China with an organised tour, so if you have family perhaps you could do something more adventurous as a family, there are some brilliant companies out there, you can do so much and it would take you all out of the comfort zone that we all sit in.

We're also doing the cooking something different, we bought a curry book as I'm not very keen on take away curry, and every Saturday night we're going to pick one and make it - mind you, it costs a fortune for the ingredients, but it's a together thing for us rather than just chucking something in the oven.

And I admire you for going to a festival, which one? I've never been to one, in fact I haven't been to a concert for about 20 years, so again we're going to rectify that this year, there's a good concert hall quite near to us so we're going to try and pick something we wouldn't normally go to and see how it goes!

I'm with you in that this is going to be my year, panda trip is my dream and if I'm having a crappy day, i just picture myself cleaning panda poo and that motivates me!! Good luck with your new life, it is the time of year, everyone wants to change and not get stuck in a rut, but not that many people actually carry out what they thing!

    Hi Alyth

we are going to Cambridge folk festival, in true MSE fashion staying at the YHA using our Tesco clubcard vouchers for our accommodation

not particularly a fan of folk as such, just like live music!
