Tai chi really is excellent, I used to go home floating almost! It is so relaxing.

Thanks tigerlily and glenstan....you have both given me the kick i needed to do something about my needless anxiety......have been wanting for that floaty feeling for years. I have given a local instructor a call and going to my first class on Wednesday.

Carolbee-I did completed a cross stich pattern for my best mate's wedding, took me 6 months in all to complete (was about A4 size) but the reward from the challenge was immense. Maybe you could knit some scarfs or cushions as gifts for friends? Have patterns for both if u wanna pm me :)

1998 was the year I spent doing a new thing every month! Something on my own that I had never done before. I didn't make it all the way to the end of the year, but I did:

Joined the local Bingo Hall (was 24 at the time!)
Parachuting - did 4 jumps that year!
    Scuba Diving
    Paintballing
    College Course in French
Went on holiday on my own - only a weekend break to Cardiff!

    And that was it!

I did that one in 2005-5 days at Pontins Camber Sands-my plan was hire a bike and explore the local countryside, but Pontins don't let you take the bikes off their sites!! Still managed to do alot of sould searching that week though!

Carolbee I'm about to try candlemaking and soapmaking as well this year - try ebay for stuff, I haven't bought anything yet but I'm looking out for ideas!

I'm off to China to be a pandakeeper for a week! I am the least adventurous person in the world, but last Aug I jacked in my job and I've been temping, which is scary in itself as you never know where your next job is coming from. I was told last Friday my company didn't need me, and was trying to stop the rising panic all weekend, and by today I have jobs applications in for about 6 jobs through agencies, all contract work, and an interview on Wed!

One thing is to push yourself out of your comfort zone - i was supposed to be going to China last year but cancelled it due to sheer stupidity in thinking I wouldn't be able to handle such a trip on my own - rubbish, you can do anything you want do - so what if your candles don't work out, if the soap doesn't lather or whatever, the fact you've tried to do something is the most important thing! One small step is to go somewhere on your own - a museum, art gallery, somewhere you wouldn't normally go, and just browse around on your own - no one is going to be looking at you despite what you think, most people are away in their own little dreamy world!

Try the internet to learn a few phrases in a different language, there's loads of free courses out there, try learning Chinese as I'm trying to do at the moment is a challenge in itself!

Must be 5 years ago now, my OH and I resolved to cook something new every month as we were bored with just eating the same things. In 5 years I think we've missed maybe 2 or 3 months where we haven't cooked something new and we've found lots of really nice recipes to expand our repertoire.

    I want to salsa dance!

    Ooh me too! :j

I saw a poster for Adult Salsa at playgroup yesterday morning and I was going  ...... hmmmm.....

I've been to lots of dance classes alone but always doing tap which I can already do. I wonder if I'd feel less confident going to do something which I can't already do IYKWIM?

Hi Carolbee, why dont you do something creative with local kids or older people? If you like to go to different places maybe you could help out with a local guide or scout club? If you want to try crafts why not see if you can do something at a local day centre?? Its just a thought but it always makes things seem more rewarding when you do stuff for other people as well as yourself!!
