Viewing history on work computer

Hi,
I realise that my work will most likely be able to see the sites I view on my work pc, however I was wondering if they are able to view sites that I need a password to log onto, for example can they see my bank details if I log onto internet banking while at work? would they be able to pick up my bank log on details and the same for my private hotmail email account - would they know the password for that and also would they see emails I've sent/recieved from my personal hotmail account?
I always browse on in private browsing (and delete browsing history on exit & clear cookies) but i am aware that this prob won't stop them from seeing what i have viewed - which i haven't got a problem with, it's just my personal accounts that need passwords that I am concerned about. I don't like the thought of them being able to access or view my bank account and personal email account.
Thanks

They can see anything, and can log every key you press.0

If you think your boss would look at things like that I would reconsider working for them. It is unlikley, easily, that the average employer would be able to access such information although in theory it is possible.
I surf the web all the time at work, the boss couldnt care less, its fantastic hehe.0 -

Thanks, I am just concerned that they can get into my bank account or my private hotmail account, as I have emails on there I do not want them to see. I have just changed my password for my hotmail account, but i'm not sure that this will mean they cannot view previous emails i have sent from that account and also i might need change my bank log on details, but obviously that is a bit of a hassle to re set it all, so want to be sure before i do that.
Thanks again0 -
I think you should assume that your employer does have access to all your work emails that you have sent using a work email address. In theory as a previous poster said, they could see your hotmail emails (i) if they have the technology installed, but (ii) it is unlikely they would want to access it unless there was some investigation - bit like telephone recordings which are stored for a time and only accessed should there be a dispute.
Possible, but the risk of being disclosed/discovered is quite small. Same applies to passwords etc, How you feel about this, is how risk averse you are, there is a risk but it is small.0 -
I'm not so sure it's that easy to see another user that is logging in to a site that has SSL security like a bank would have, plus most banks ask for 3 out of 10 letters of your password and so unless someone viewed lots of login sessions then they could list down every combination.
If you save a web log in like Hotmail then it can certainly be easy to retried that info, there are various free programs that can reveal saved log ins to websites but that wouldn't include bank type sites.
However it certainly is possible to log every key stroke as mentioned already, should someone really want to do that.
Never trust information given by strangers on internet forums0 -

They can only "potentially" see whatever you do, it doesn't mean they are scraping everyones username and passwords.
and its not like they can open a little page and have the details right there, it would normally involve trawling through large log files which they usually dont keep in a non aggrigated for very long anyway.
Hotmail and online banking are also protected by SSL, this requires an extra effort of the companies behalf to packet sniff whatever you're sending. even then ive only seen larger companies are setup to do this.
Even if they could be botherd to do all this they cant legally log into your accounts.0 -
A lot of larger companies have remote access software where Tech Support can see everything on your screen in realtime. That shouldn't be abused of course, and there are legal restrictions on intercepting workplace communications, but technically it is possible (and without you knowing it's happening).A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Hi,
why not just take your own lappy in to work with you?0 -
Use of the internet at your place of work is a privilidge, not a right !, have you asked about access or just assumed you could ?
If you have stuff! you do not want them to see then do it at home, it could be that they have software to protect themselves against users surfing to undesirable sites and that would log sites visited, so if there was any illegal surfing they would know who it was.
An employer could be very suspicious of users deleting cookies and history as that implies you have something to hide. Even private browsing is not 100% foolproof !0
