Bank loan details

We have been having phone calls recently from a company regarding PPI insurance. They have quoted the exact details of a loan - how much, when it was taken out, the lender and when it was repaid. Where do they get this information? Do the banks give them this information?

Was this taken out through a broker by any chance? if so, its likely they sold on your details or they are now a CMC and AVOID!0 -
No - loan was taken out directly through the bank and we did not take out any insurance although the man on the end of the phone insists that we did. We only had this loan very briefly - just a few months.0

Data sold out the back door by the sounds of it, It is of great value these days, an initial lead can fetch maybe £5.00 per name with that sort of info, the claim Company can then get about £100.00 and the the actual recovery claim firm can pick up 20% or more of any refund.0

Are bank dealings not supposed to be confidential?0

Not when a rouge employee has a cocaine or lady of the night habbit to fund !0

That makes sense of things now - RBS has been an absolute nightmare right from the beginning.0

It would never be a bank policy to sell details of their loans on. Crazyguy has it right, its probably a rogue employee flogging details to a CMC.0

your persona data is sold left right and centre, from a loyalty card to your insurance company, raw data as its called is big business and there are a hell of alot of rouge traders out there just the same as every other industry0

I realised that names and addresses were sold on but did not think that they would sell full details of your financial dealings.0

I mentioned before in another post and values range from £0.02 up to £5.00,
Name and number might get £0.02 / £0.15
Name,number and address £0.10 / £0.25
And so on there are data lists that go about that have name, dob, number, address, employer name and address and income and debts0
