Things to do in Manchester?

Hi,

We're going from Northern Ireland to Manchester for 3 days at the end of February. Aside from the shopping and taking the missus to Old Trafford to show her what all the fuss is about (!) - can anyone recommend things to do and places to go see in Manchester?

The missus is a big Corrie fan and as far as I'm aware it's out of bounds to visitors. Is it possible to visit the street at all or even go see it from some sort of vantage point?

Thanks!

  • Granada studios is no longer open to visitors.
Theatres and musuems are a plenty, and there could be something on at the G-mex or MEN arena.

Try to take in a show if you can, there are plenty of good shows at the mo in Manchester (check ticketmaster or aloud)
Also bring a brolly - it always rains here ;)
    Play up Pompey!

Go to the Manchester science & history museum. It's free entry then you can see the coranation street from the building for free.

The Science museum is great if that your sort of thing.. Can spend hours in it.. for free! You see Street Cars and Gails house from the 'cloth hall' in there :-)

Think Mel Brooks' 'The Producers' starring Peter Kay starts at the end of Feb
  • Urbis is another place worth a look, as is Manchester Art Gallery (I've lived here for 8 years and only went in there for the first time last month), and the Imperial War Museum North. All free entry.

  • Get on a train to London?
  • Go to the Lowry Gallery. At the moment there is 'One Love: The Football Art Prize.' I'm going up there on Thursday, my friend was one of the finalists for the prize, and her work is on show there.
It's a while since I was last in Manchester, I like the place. There is plenty to see and do. Try https://www.gmpte.com/ As well info on travel you can order leaflets on information on what to see and do.
