  • thanks, which one do you recommend mate?
find a deal....pass it on
  • If long battery life is not of importance, this MSI U135DX for £128. Only other caveat is the glossy screen, so not great for working outdoors. The price leaves a space for extra RAM. RAM upgrade
    RAM module £7.19
    Specs here

They also have a Windows XP version with a six cell battery for £139 if you prefer working with XP.

If you want a matte screen for working outdoors, think about a Samsung.

I have a toshiba netbook which is fine and works well. Terrible screen if you are even slightly to the side (ie can't show someone else a photo) and awful keyboard for any proper typing but does the basic websurfing job well. I'm not sure I'd buy it again though. With hindsight, would probably get a Samsung.
Btw the Toshibas are not that light as with the decent battery, it sticks out the back, so you can't use a basic netbook cover but have to buy a bigger, heavier one.
  • I have a HP netbook for travel use. This (somewhat unusually for Netbooks) has Bluetooth and I use it connected to my mobile for "light web surfing". If you have Bluetooth on your phone and reasonable data costs you might consider that rather than buying a dongle.
