How long have you had the car? Is it within the first 30 days/1000 miles? If so, and it's an Approved Used car, then the following from BMW's site will be of interest:
"We're confident in the quality of our BMW Approved Used Cars. So confident in fact that if we can't resolve a fault that occurs within the first 30 days or 1,000 miles of your ownership (whichever is sooner), you'll be entitled to an exchange, or refund if an appropriate exchange can't be found."
If this doesn't apply, who have you spoken to about the problem? Usually the person on the service desk will try to fob you off, but asking to speak to a manager can work wonders. Failing that, contact BMW themselves, who will often chase it up with the garage - it may help them to fix it quicker.
I'm not sure if the AUC warranty applies only to the garage you bought it from, but if not then you could take it to another BMW garage who may be able to fix it quicker (and in fewer attempts) than BMW Croydon.0 -
Id be cautious on this, I am not sure how they view professional usage under the AUC warranty, presumably it was a business purchase?
The AUC warranty is not dealer specific, you can take it to any...
what exactly is the fault? have both visits been for the same fault?0 -
hi Redped Visidigi
sorry for late reply was busy wit work ...................
yes car is under 30 days but i did around 3000 miles ................... i did took the car to another bmw garage to get it diagnostics and they found faults with car and that was with in 1 week after the purchase and than i gave car back to them with the list of fault provided by another bmw garage and apparently cooper croydon kept the car for 5 days and after that been told all problem been fixed and i can collect the car ................... but with in 2 day after repairs same problem again the main problem was (Leakage of wash fluid from left side front tyre and car is making whizzing noise in D gear but in stationary position) plus another garage found couple of other fault with pollen filter housing not fitted properly and diesel filter clip broken which they mention been repaired with super glu and they gave me all this on styner maidenhead bmw letterhead which i given to cooper croydon........... regarding AUC warranty i dont knw anything about it ............ but when i bought the car i told them that i might use this car for chauffeuring ...... but didnt mention anything about difference in finance for normal purchase and for chauffeuring at that time ............. Yesterday i spoke to BMW UK and put in my complain again cooper croydon but i been told by bmw uk that i have to raise my complain with cooper croydon as purchase was made from cooper and my agreement is with them, so i put written complaint in yesterday and given them 14 days notice to make me offer for compensation for loss of earning, inconvinence and stress caused by all this so let c what they will come out wit now........................... any advise will be highly appriciated0 -
ok firstly, you bought a used car. Its going to have faults. You have to give them the chance to repair those faults. The delay of delivery date could have been out of their control, they want the minumum time between trade in and trade out, so it might have been the previous owner, that you have not explained int he above.
The superglued cap might not have been the garage, but a previous owner, you might get a bit of goodwill for the problems (discount on oil/main service) but you wont get consequential cost, you wont get stress compensation and if they offered you a courtesy car then you have no chance of inconvinience either (the car hasnt phyisically died, just got a couple of issues thats all)
And if you've done 3,000 miles in less than 30 days then you are clearly using it for alot of business (and not the 'might' use it for business you quoted to the dealer)
There's some holes in what you've provided, but in any case, you need to give the dealer the chance to fix it, its mechanical, things break, you've got 12 months to get them fixed under warranty...0 -
Thanks Visidigi
I bought the car from Garage as approved used car and its there responsibility to do all the check before they deliver the car ? The car was advertise on BMW website and i went to see the car had test drive and pointed out all the problems and they agreed everything will be done by this date but it never happend and didnt manage to get the car ready on agreed date................ i had no courtesey car given .............. only last 2 days before they deliver the car i been given courtesy car for 2 days only ................. regarding the repairs i will like to mention tht it was advertised as bme approved used car and its there responsibility to do all the check and make sure car is 101 % ok to drive and do not have any faults or problem wit it ................... and also it was company car owned by bmw before so bmw is responsible for everything ......... apart from tht with a week of delivery of car i found there is something wrong with it and i took the car to another bmw to get it diagnostic and then took it back to them to fix it and they kept the car for 5 days and told me all fixed and car is ready but as soon as i collected the car those problem are still there and now i have booked the car in 2nd time for same problem ? (how many times do i hve to give them chance to fix same problem??) when i have given written list of problem with the car and been told its done but its not? As per my knowledgeg all approved used car comes with warranty and they go through the all sorts of check before they put it up for sale but the problems i have facing with my car looks like nothing has been checked and they sold the car without doing any checks and all the problems are coming out ................ Thanks God i m in 12 months warranty otherwise all these problems will cost me fortune0 -
tl;dr
This is a paragraph.
The ENTER key is at the middle-right of a keyboard and is useful for making paragraphs.0 -
If you list the exact problems with the car on separate lines, and without much other text ... then we'll be able to help more. At the minute your posts are really difficult to follow.
One thing I saw mentioned was leaking washer fluid from left side front tyre - this sounds like one of your headlight washers is leaking - I had this last year after the heavy snow. Until the parts come in, the garage can just put a clip on the hose to stop the leak. Nothing major, and will be covered under warranty (if they haven't already fixed it).0 -
Thanks Visidigi
I bought the car from Garage as approved used car and its there responsibility to do all the check before they deliver the car ?
Yes, there is but no checklist, aside from a complete rebuild will cover every possible fault, and even a complete rebuild can still have issues. The car was advertise on BMW website and i went to see the car had test drive and pointed out all the problems and they agreed everything will be done by this date but it never happend and didnt manage to get the car ready on agreed date
Like I said before, this happens, dates slip. If you gave them a list of all faults then they should have resolved them before delivery - but I do suspect, from what you've said so far you might have been quite pushy about getting the car - especially when the date slipped................... i had no courtesey car given .............. only last 2 days before they deliver the car i been given courtesy car for 2 days only
So you didn't have a car, but then you did, which means they covered part of the inconvienience - no big issue there as you DID have a courtesy car.................. regarding the repairs i will like to mention tht it was advertised as bme approved used car and its there responsibility to do all the check and make sure car is 101 % ok to driveand do not have any faults or problem wit it ...................
Impossible. You are buying a used car, there are going to be faults, fact of life. This is why, in part, it comes with a warranty - the warranty is far more important than the pre delivery check.and also it was company car owned by bmw before so bmw is responsible for everything .........
previous owner doesnt come into it, its a dealer provided car you bought and the car is covered by a manufacturer warranty.apart from tht with a week of delivery of car i found there is something wrong with it
Ok so you take it back to your dealer where you bought it and they look at it for you.and i took the car to another bmw to get it diagnostic and then took it back to them to fix it and they kept the car for 5 days
Puzzeled why you took it to another dealer, its almost like you are trying to antagonise the providing dealer. Given they didnt do the research themselves they would have had to when you delivered it, despite what your other garage said.and told me all fixed and car is ready but as soon as i collected the car those problem are still there and now i have booked the car in 2nd time for same problem ? (how many times do i hve to give them chance to fix same problem??)
At least three, you have to give them ample opportunity to fix the problem, cars are complex products. There are also a number of possible faults, especially with a car with as much standard equipment as a 7 series.when i have given written list of problem with the car and been told its done but its not?
Thats a dealer specific, if anythingmechanic specific issue you take up with the dealer - but be aware, the AUC BMW warranty is not 100% coverage, wear and tear etc is not covered under the AUC warranty, neither is rattles, squeeks and seals. As per my knowledgeg all approved used car comes with warranty
All BMW dealer sold second hand cars should come with a 12 month conditional warranty yes.and they go through the all sorts of check before they put it up for sale
No, dealer will not fix cosmetic or minor faults until the car is sold - dealer cant assign warranty repairs to a car on AUC unless its assigned an owner.but the problems i have facing with my car looks like nothing has been checked and they sold the car without doing any checks and all the problems are coming out
It drives - I really do honestly think you have bought a used car expecting it to be showroom new condition and function - you're also making asusmptive statements you have no proof of................. Thanks God i m in 12 months warranty otherwise all these problems will cost me fortune
A gearbox whine, a screenwash leakage (the latter is like to be either a perished hose (usually not covered, although in your case this I may push for some good will on) or its a cracked tank itself, through a stone or other item striking the bottle insitu.
As per above, its a used car, used cars have faults, you have a warranty and you are covered - the faults you describe are not restrictive to your use of the car (especially with the amount of rain we have at the moment...) - just take it in and get them sorted, it really sounds like you're making a really big deal over very little right now...
