Help, buyer claims the item is used but its brand new, and sealed.

Hi, I was lucky enough to receive for my birthday some very expensive makeup. I cant use it as i have very sensitive skin, so i decided to sell it on ebay.

It sold and i sent it well wrapped up via recorded delivery. Then last night i receive a really nasty email from the buyer claiming that it was secondhand and used. It was still sealed!! They are demanding i refund them immediatley, and pay all postage costs as well as packaging. As i have clearly misled them, but i havent.

I have replied i will refund the item cost, but postage will be at their expense and should be returned via recorded delivery to ensure that it is received. This is what information i found on ebay, so i did as they instructed - totally unfair tho.

What if they have tried it and dont like it? Do i have to refund still, I entered into this in good faith, but im a little worried, they seam to leave strange feedback comments, and only ever buy random things.

Any help as what to do would be great, I really canr afford to be scammed at the moment.

There is a website dedicated to getting things for free on e.bay.
This is what happens when they stop sellers from issuing negative feedback.
But alas, revenge is best served cold
watch for THEM selling and what is good for the goose is also good for the gander, but leave some Neg feedback on the last day as well just for good measure...

So how would negative feedback for a buyer have stopped this? Do you sell so little and only on auction that you can sit poised at your pC for every item you sell to pull unwanted bids? Most of us have no idea who is bidding until we check our sold lists.

Negative feedback stops them EVENTUALLY so it limits the scams, you can set preferences for the amount of negative feedback someone is allowed before they are blocked from bidding.

The feedback had to be completely negative though to be able ot block them so all buyers had to do was make sure they stayed even.

OP for the cost of a phone call if you get back something entirely different call paypal and tell them how upset and distressed you are that you have been cheated like this- it is always worth a try. You can also see if there is anything in the ebay dispute console that you can use to bring this to ebays attention.

But you can't leave a buyer negative feedback, so how is this going to help? On another point, I heard that Ebay are now looking for serial complainers and banning them, not sure about the truth to that though.

You really havent a clue have you? The one you quoted the other day as a way for getting things free on the internet can actually be easily defended. So if thats the quality of the information on it I wouldn't hold your breath for any other successe.

As a buyer and seller I support the current system.

Previously as a buyer I had an item I wanted to leave negative feedback for but couldn't as they would hit me back with one despite me doing nothing wrong.

As a seller if a buyer doesn't pay I can leave a non paying bidder strike on them, a few of them and they are stopped.

In this case usually when you hit them back with I will refund once the item it returned they shut up.

Many thanks for the comments, I have replied but havent heard anything from them since. I dont mind the item back, as long as they havent used it, IYGWIM. As for the negative comments, i got one before as i asked for payment and after a week they left - new item had tags on but used..... Was totally amazed but them read a few weeks later they had done the same feedback to others.

I have a few other items to sell, but because of these scammers I really wonder is it worth the hastle, maybe have to do a table top sale another weekend.

Don't give up, there isn't many scammers on ebay, don't let a bad experience with one ruin it.
