Voltage Issue on Dell replacement battery

Options
I am trying to find a replacement battery for my Dell Inspiron 1750. The battery says it is type K450N and 10.8v, but all the replacements, which say they are compatible with the 1750, and K450N, are all 11.1v. Em, not being technically minded, is the voltage an issue? Is my laptop liable to blow up?

On Dell's own website, where the battery costs over £100 as opposed to 40+, it doesn't actually say what the voltage is. All are 6 cell Lithium - assuming the voltage is not an issue, what is the difference - is it worth paying the extra?

Many thanks.

The voltage is not likely to be an issue - the voltage per cell varies slightly with state of charge, and the laptop has a regulation circuit to make sure this does not affect it.

My own experience of buying non-original batteries has been good, but you may find that (whatever it says on the website) the battery is shipped from China/HK - if so, it may take a while to reach you.

The difference is 2.5% which is within tolerances,

If you look here you can get an original Dell vattery for £40+ quid

or here for a little more

If you zoom in on the 6600mAh 9-Cell model you will see it actually appears to say Dell, whereas generics would not.............

Thanks very much for the replies.

Em, what difference does capacity make :o. The 3 batteries are 2400, 4800 and 7200mAh - would the 7200 really last 3 times longer?

    Thanks again!

Capacity when translated to Kilowatt hours, says exactly that, how long they will last between charges. If you don't travel around, and generally use it with the external power in then there is little benefit. Making sure that the supplier gives you a 12 month warranty is quite important.

I'm sure that there is a thread here somewhere which advises users on how to get the most out of batteries - how to avoid killing a battery quickly!

I found a replacement battery for you. It only cost like £28.31, and also seems to offer a coupon code "5OFFSEP" for all products. They have 1 year warranty, 30 days money back guarantee, so I think its safe. Anyway, , you can have a try.

It is Bilatek co uk. The product name is Dell Inspiron 1525 1526 GW240 RU586 RN873 Battery Replacement 6 cells 5200mAh 11.1V. and I've checked it for you, it is compatible with your laptop, you can check again.
    Hope it'll help :)

Be careful if purchasing unbranded batteries as such, I bought one for a customer and saved about a 3rd or so against the original one needed, suffice to say it was useless and needed replacing some 6 months later or so.

Finally given up and decided to buy one as battery now completely dead. Looks like the top on here is the way to go as I want to get a Dell one. However, on th picture there is a bit sticking out the side, which mine does not have. Is this me being dense again :o?

    Thanks.

I agree the photo is poor - in fact to get the extra wattage (which just makes it last longer between charges), it has extra cells which sit under the battery, so the battery fits in the same way, but effectively raises the back of the lappie when it sits on a desk, perhaps not explaining myself very well - have a look here as the photo is better http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/120828610896?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&adtype=pla

which in itself isn't a bad thing...will aid airflow and cooling ;)
