Can I run away from unpaid final bill?

Hi.
I couldn't find an answer for a big problem, which I' faced since I got eviction from my apartment before summer. (as my landlord passed away)

It goes like this:
I went abroad for the summer and I gave the gas company an address of my other halfs house for the final bill (I don't live there), but he didn't open any of it.
There's a final gas bill, reminders, and a warning of dept collection agency and court for summons, dated 1 month ago.

I'm too scared to contact them, I don't have the money(we used to share the bills with my flatmates, but everyone got eviction, and I was the unlucky who had name on each bill) and I'm wondering, as I've changed my address (or I don't have an address) and phone number since, and we have been paying the gas bills with a payment slips (no direct debit) in an off license, is it possible, that I could run away without paying the bill? How could I find out, what information does the gas company have about me, if anything? I changed the information under my name 1 year ago, when one of my flatmate moved out, and I cannot remember whatkind of information they required, but I don't suppose it included any of my bank details since I haven't been paying it via direct debit.

is there any way they could track me if I would just forget the final bill?

yeah, if you think you can get away with it, just remember Karma, what ever you take, will be taken from you one day....just don't moan about it when it happens!

I've never stolen from anyone, I took care of all the bills for everyone, paid everything on time, and ended up with this,(a bill which I'm not supposed to pay on my own, but I don't have my flatmates around anymore) on top of the fact that I never got my deposit back. I'm not sure if I believe in karma anymore.

Off the top of my head the first thing the company will do for non payment is to put a marker on your credit file .

This will obviously have an adverse effect on any borrowing/bank/credit card applications and you ability to buy/rent a property in the future .

It was rather foolish of you to be the named on the bill and or making sure you at least got money from them regularly ie 4 weekly or better weekly

So you may not have stolen before but what you are planning on is morally wrong

Still it may just comeback and bite you on the bum some way down the line when you ask for credit.

What disgusts me is there is people who are in debt and try there best to pay off the debts they owe and get no thanks for it then people like you come along and expect a free ride.

You will be caught be it years down the line that black mark will get you when you want any credit.

Someone has to take the responsibility of the bills, and they has to have a name on them.

gas is morally wrong, the environmental impact is huge, setting a gas company is morally wrong and giving money to support it contributes to the negative effect on the environment. Capitalistic model of a gas company is wrong. However we decide, there will be someone dying because of our lifestyle. Let's try & cut the hypocritical !!!!!!!! please.

I am not being hypocritical but then I take responsibility for my actions unlike you wanting to run away and devoid of any responsibility.

This bill is a gas bill of 4 people, who has been ran away from it, leaving me alone to pay it, because I once agreed to put my name on the bill.
The landlady stole my deposit, and I was left alone to deal with the final bills.

In effect it would be difficult initially to trace you , however as they have the details of your name /previous address they can still mark your credit file .
