And they want it by 15/10 :rotfl:
I have about £12 in my current account so good luck with that TCs.
On a serious note, I've been trying to get hold of them for a couple of days with no joy. I'm a single working mum on a low wage and I reckon at a push I could give them £60 a month back, does anyone know how reasonable they are if you're attempting to make an arrangement with them?
Thanks in advance...

Do you know 100% you owe this?
They reckon I owe then just shy of 7k HUH from last year! Their buddy !!!! up.... I filled in the form (first time doing it ever), And DH took it into work for his HR to double check etc, his wages were written there quite clearly.. We never received an award notice, If we did I would have it as I am very organized, (draw, cupboard or filing cabinet). I received a letter from them this week telling me I had to pay it back by a certain date, I managed to get through to them, and she told me she will send me out a form to appeal it, and they will investigate, getting the original form we filled in, and if it is found what we wrote to be correct then it will get waved..
Keep trying them, you will get through eventually and arrange a payment plan, if your sure you owe it..

Still trying to get hold of them but yeah I had a telephone conversation with them a few months ago and it's probably about right.0

hi
thanks to my darling son leaving college and not being sure if he was going back or not and me waiting to see what he decided i eventually told whoever u tell these things to that he had left 8 months previously.
the college couldnt decide what date he left
connexions had him registered as still going to college
as did the CB agency.
but as i didnt want to go to prison i had to fight for a letter from the CB office to have my CB stopped so my son could then claim JSA!
i have to repay £650 child benefit, was given 3 weeks, rang and they asked if i could manage £50 p.m. cos they like it returned within 6 months. i said more like £25 or even £20
they accepted £20 p.m. will take 32 months.
ive also been told i owe approx £2400 WTC/CTC
i was given 3 weeks to repay it, like id be on benefits if i had that sort of cash in my bank!
i was told i would need to pay £67 p.m.
i offered £10 and was told to submit an 'ins and outs' list, which i havent done yet.
that was over 2 weeks ago and i havent heard anything this since
and can u believe having had all this upset, not knowing what money i have coming in, my DS has now decided to return to college!!
He is still fighting for his JSA having not received a penny since claiming 3 months ago - no wonder he decided to return to college -
AND what do u think will happen when i start to reclaim CB, WTC and CTC??????
Nightmare
what a system

It's not suppose to be easy being on benefits, Of course there going to make peoples lifes hard.0 -
OP, how did the "overpayment" come about? did you knowingly give them false information or not update your circumstances?
I wouldn't be laughing if I were you, it's not going to go away and they don't have to agree to whatever terms you propose.
If you've knowingly deceived them you may even be charged with fraud, will you be making a joke of it then?
Benefit fraud is a serious offence and I don't think this board is the right place to be making jokes about it...0 -
molly22 - that 'nightmare system' was paying you money to which you weren't entitled for 8 months. By your own admission, you eventually told them your son was no longer at college so that was your fault, not the system's fault.
RILEYBULL - 3 posters above owe nearly 15k in overpayments bewtween them. How is that clawing back a few pence?0 -

I'm thinking you dont have any children or certainly not a teenager.
My first child sailed through school, college, university and is now a qualified midwife at 22.
So i expected my next child to do the same, BUT they are all different and individual, and mature at different rates.
My son a bright lad but just didnt settle to education after year 11.
He is now at college doing a Mechanical Engineering course.
The reason i didnt tell the DWP about him leaving college is i wasnt sure at all what he intended doing, as he didnt, I just hoped every week he would return.
If i had known he would return now i wouldnt have told them anything.
they are so inept.
we have been messed about terribly, if i did my job like they do theirs, i would be sacked!
some of the DWP staff dont even know how to converse politely over the phone.
