Broadband with Telephone?

Firstly, don't shout if I seem a bit dense because I'm trying to find out for my Mum about broadband and I don't really know anything about all this
So at the moment we are on dial up and we get free phone calls or something with what we pay monthly for our internet so I guess we have like a package where we pay for out internet and phone at the same time.
What I want to know is.. can you get Broadband like this? Where you can pay for both at the same time or get a good deal or something?
If we get broadband, we won't be able to afford our calls on top of the internet so I'm just wondering

There are an infinite number of possibilities here. Generally agreed on these boards that the best way for the telephone for phonecalls is either https://www.talktalk.co.uk or https://www.onetel.co.uk for free evening and w/e calls for a year - for any peak calls use https://www.call18866.co.uk , who charge a penny connection and that's it, its then free per minute. This is assuming you have a BT landline - another point to remember is change to BT option 1 by DD for £10.50 pcm line rental.
As for broadband - it depends what you want/need - is it simply web browsing or heavy downloading. Whichever, head over here to assess what you want
