  • Just ignore them.

If you 'appealed', you'll get a templated rejection letter from them in due course.

Then ignore them until the letters dry up.

NCP have never ever done court anyway.

NCP do things like changing wording every now and again. They're very pro-active in trying to extract cash from the motorist and when one tactic starts to fade they'll develop another to keep the income flowing.

Ignore the thing, its probably been designed for the future should the bill of freedoms gain royal assent when they'll be making use of it to persecute every motorist they think they can. Whilst that wording may at that point have some influence over a judge, at the moment its worthless and NCP do not currently do court. Thats almost certainly going to change if the bill gains assent as they're looking for any way to boost their income regardless of their reputation. They think they've become so big that they can afford to loose customers.

However, just in case NCP decide to start writing to you after the freedoms bill (a scare tactic that will be worthless seeing as this happened before the bill), go back and grab photos of the signage at some point.

  • I have a similar problem. I paid for 2 days parking. The ticket had blown off my dashboard as I slammed the door of the car shut onto my car seat. They say I have failed to display the ticket properly and are threatening me with Debt collectors. After reading a few things maybe I shouldn't have appealed. I sent them the original of my ticket (I kept a copy) .Should I ignore from now on? can they really get the debt collectors knocking at my door? Many thanks for anyone who can advise me before my Christmas is ruined :-)

    Handy tip:

Use an old cassette tape box to put your P&D ticket in (or a CD case) and lay that on the dash. No more blown over tickets :)

Karen - Stop worrying and just ignore them totally - And all the fake debt collector/solicitor letters that follow. This is nothing more than a mail scam. All your contacting them means is that they will prolong their attempts to con money out of you for a little bit longer.

And no, they can't send debt collectors to your door without taking you to court and winning first and the chances of that happening are miniscule.

Oh and for anything legit parking related - NEVER send originals, always use copies, keep copies and get proof of postage. Don't leave anything to chance.

You do not have any problem and Christmas is not ruined.

Think of this mail scam as very like a series of phishing emails. You would just delete them with a snort of laughter at their pathetic attempts to extort money from you I think? Same with a private parking company, even a big one like NCP. As long as the ticket was a 'PCCN' issued by NCP - and is not an actual 'penalty' from Northern Rail or other TOC themselves - and debt collectors are the only threat, then it's an unenforceable invoice just like any other PPC fake PCN.

Threats of debt collectors? It just means they will send you the debt collector letters shown in the top thread - most of us on here have had them. Nothing happens, no effect on credit rating, no-one can send the boys round. I keep my letters from 3 years ago in my handbag to show friends & colleagues if ever the subject of private parking 'tickets' comes up. Be brave, p[lay snap with each letter that matches the top thread, and spread the word so none of your friends ever pays one of these fake PCNs.

    Happy Christmas!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • You will get nothing but daft threatmail as the charges have no legal validity. In any event, debt collectors have no powers of siezure and cannot gain entry unless invited. Have a great Christmas and ignore this nasty scam.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
  • Hi,
I need some advice please, ive read all the comments and wonder if my daughter falls into the same bracket.
She got held up at work in dec and returned to her car (Bolton NCP) after the ticket had expired (dec 2011) after reading advice on line i decided against paying the initial parking charge that has been left on her windscreen. Today she has received a notice to keeper/driver through the post and the charge has doubled to £100 and the threat of court and bailifs if she fails to pay. I read somewhere you could offer to pay the cost of how long you stayed in the car park rather than the £100 but im now wondering if i should do that, or pay the £100 or ignore it..
    Advice needed please...
