Costa... do I take it further?

Hello, I hope I am posting this in the right place
I have recently had dealings with Costa, over a recent visit... now I don't go there often (as a rare treat) but was appalled by my last visit
I have emailed my complaint, and received a reply that I am unhappy with. I think the e-mails speak for themselves, so I won't explain too much more here
Basically I find it very unfair that whilst I was paying a service charge on TOP of the cost of the food, specifically for eating in, the people sat directly next to us were allowed to eat food brought in with them, whilst only buying one coffee between 4 adults and 5 children
I would have expected that if they have admitted they were at fault, then they should have offered some kind of compensation for the fact our family lunch was completely ruined by this. Do I follow through with this, or am I expecting too much
Edit... Jeez, and I thought this was an "advice" forum... not a place to b!tch at people that ask for help ><

I think the best way to take it further is not to eat there again. Clearly they will sort out what's going on in the store, if they have been not following the rules and making it a bad place to be. But vote with your feet.
Also, let me apologise in advance for the replies you will receive...Squirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
How was your experience "ruined" because someone else ate something? What compensation do you think you deserve?
Did you inform the manager at the time? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

My favourite is this
"a group of young women with several children sat next to us. As a general rule this would not bother me, after all I had my children with me."
So others can have children with them only when the OP does. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
The "service charge" is actually VAT. If your eating in they have to charge it, eating out, they don't.
Its exceptionally rude to not even buy a drink and eat there.
I worked at starbucks for a while a couple of years ago, this kind of practice would happen occassionally. We would do something about it though as it meant other customers would whinge at us because they couldn't find a seat. One time a man came in, didn't buy a drink and sat there eating his boots meal deal-- when the manager asked him to leave he refused, so in the end she took his sandwich from him, put it in a bag and put it outside
But even so, I fail to see how this affected your experience. In all honesty the complaint is silly, they responded correctly.0 -
OP, what did the manager say when you complained at the time when your lunch was ruined?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
-
Do you take it further, i'm surprised you took it this far. Pretty petty worrying about what someone else is eating.0

Exactly. It's like asking for your A-Level grade to be increased because someone else in the class cheated. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

No to the first question Yes to the second."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

I am inferring that the children (and adults!) in the other party were not making a nuisance in terms of noise/running about etc as the OP has not said anything to the contrary. In situations such as that, I can understand why it could spoil others' enjoyment of their lunch.
The fact that they were just eating food from bought from a different place? OK, perhaps this is a little cheeky, but personally I feel that the phrase that this "completely ruined" the OP's Costa experience is a little OTT.
Nevertheless OP - you have made your complaint and you have got a professional reply - what more is there to be done? Case closed! I think the call for "compensation" is way out of line.0
