Orange contract

My current orange contract is due to end on 14th October. I phoned today (31 days before end) to enquire about an upgrade and was quickly put through to the retentions department. I explained that I had found the deal I wanted with Vodafone (through a 3rd party dealer) for a Samsung Galaxy S2 with 300 mins, 500 texts and 500 data for £23 per month and the phone for free. The woman immediately stated that they could only do the free phone for £35 per month. I explained that I would be phoning back for the PAC code tomorrow (when I can formally give my 30 days notice).

Any suggestions for how I can improve my chance of getting orange to make a reasonable deal? I really don't want to leave orange but if they won't even come close I'll have to move elsewhere.

  • Actually ask for your PAC?
  • I'm interested to see how this works out for you. My contract is ending in a couple of months and I've seen a better deal I want with another provide but I don't want to leave Orange because I get free home broadband. Good Luck!
  • I'm planning to ask for my pac tomorrow but just wondered if anyone had been lucky and had any further tips.:)

    from my own personal view,
i'd kick orange into touch when possible, they're fine when nothings wrong, same as all.
but if it ever does go pear shaped you could be left gob-smacked.

i always held sky as the number 1 for worst CS but orange have taken them to a penalty shoot-out!
I'm still waiting to hear from both as to who will win sudden death!

i wont be calling them back, just cancel when you can, if they ask why, tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine!
  • In my experience _retensions_ only get serious once you've asked for your PAC. If they won't play ... leave!

The other deal sounds pretty good.
  • Wish me luck for tomorrow then!!!

doubt orange will get close to the third party deal, even when I go via a cashback site they cant touch them
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • I have just left Orange after around 14 years.

The c/s is the worst I have had. I have now been waiting for an unlocking code for my phone since 3rd August, despite numerous phone calls.

They managed to get the IMEI wrong, twice. The email address (to send unlocking code) wrong 3-4 times and have cut me off when I ask them to read details back to me on 3 occasions.
    All offshore call centres
    baldly going on...
  • Definitely ask for your pac and don't ring them up again - wait for them to call you with offers - and haggle too!
