e2save Redemption Offer... good deal and moving from o2 to Vodaphone

Hi guys
I have recently acquired an iphone 3gs and am currently using it on an o2 simplicity sim only tariff which is out of contract at the end of this month.
Tariff is roughly £20 a month but I got a £100 credit at the beginning via a friend so it worked out at just over £11 a month.
Best on offer to stay with o2 is £50 cashback/credit so over another sim only 12 month period would work out at £17.33 a month for 600 mins, texts and Web Bolt on. I appreciate T-Mobile are cheaper @ £10p/m (via Chitter Chatter) but heard bad things about their speeds.
Anyway I have seen e2save are offering a refurb Tocco Lite on an 18 month basis on Vodafone which is very similar to the o2 tariff (600 mins texts and 500mb data). The line rental is £31 a month BUT after redemptions works out @ 99p per month. I appreciate you have to do the redemptions but I did them a few years back via CPW and they often worked out with me paying £5 a month and as I am reasonably organised and the T&C weren't too bad I always got the £££ back (although I once needed to email the CEO team).
Sorry for a lot of waffling, here's my queries...
1. Am I right in thinking that I could simply pop the Vodafone sim into my iphone 3gs and use it in that handset ok (o2 tell me the iphone is unlocked now)?
2. Is there anyway Vodafone/e2save could refuse me the cashback if I am not using the Tocco Lite handset?
The other thing that is a sticking point is I have o2 broadband (legacy package) which is now £9.50 a month after my discount. If I moved from o2 mobile this would then rise to £14.50 and I am loathed to move to another BB provider (Sky want Line Rental and I am in a contract until January with BT) and Orange BB are just pants.
Any concerns, thoughts or advice?
Cheers

1. Yes, if it is really unlocked.
2. No.0 -
I'll try a different network sim in the 3gs first
