Comparethemarket - Meercat toy farce!
Comments

Thank you for your responses.
It turns out that Admiral had used the rates that I had been quoted from comparethemarket and simply updated the rate on to the policy I had previously had with them. It therefore looks like a simple renewal to Admiral and wasn't picked up by the 'Meercat team' as a new policy.
I was put through to Admiral's call centre (sounded like an India based one) and the agents had no idea what I was taliking about ("you mean you get a free meercat with our policies?!". To change the source code on the policy would require the unwinding of the whole policy and setting it up again. All for a blo*dy meercat toy!
I'm afraid at this point I lost the will to live and gave up............0 -
How can Admiral use comparison site information to update an existing policy, without your knowledge or consent ?The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

Huckster - I provided them the quote from Comparethemarket inorder to reduce the premium from the renewal notice Admiral had previously given me. I had asked for a seperate policy to be created but they simply updated the rate on the existing policy.0

As you know, a meerkat toy is just about worth its weight in gold.
Why not cancel and start again. (Assuming no charge for cancelling during the cooling off period)0 -
I applied for my meerkat a month ago & contacted Compare the Market to see where it was. After getting replies which didnt answer my question they then said they were waiting for validation from my insurers. I contacted my insurers and Compare the Market had NOT contacted them. Seems they have not thought this through. Many people will be waiting 90 days (yes! they told me to wait that long) before they contact the company only to find that they are no further forward.
What a mess!0 -
I got my meercats eventually after numerous compliants and reference to this site to show them how many people had read about my experience. The root cause of my problem was that I used Compare to get an improved quote from my insurer Admiral and Admiral had decided to simply update the price on the current policy rather than set up a new one as they said they would.0

Mine came today. The policy was taken out over two months ago so it does take a while but it should come in the end.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
