if you fly over and are staying in the city centre .It is cheaper to get the local bus from the airport rather than the Airport Bus .
For all local buses you need the correct fare as no change will be given by the driver.https://www.dublinbus.ie
Bring a carrier bag ,you will be charged 15 cent for one .
No smoking in pubs ,restaurants or any work place .
if you are using a debit or credit card make sure you are charged in euro and not sterling .if you have a nationwide debit or credit card nationwide dont charge a fee .
If you bring your UK mobile phone ,you will be charges a roaming charge if you use it .I think o2 charge £1.50 a minute for you to answer a call .

www.bewleyshotels.com 99 euro room per night in Ballsbridge (a few stops out on the dart train )

    you could also try www.comfortinnsmithfield.com

    or www.juryshotel.com
All off these charge extra for breakfast .

Also google B&B gardiner street dublin
Gardiner street is central and full off B&B,s .

I have stayed in hazelbrook house in Gardiner street
and The Townhouse in Gardiner street .
If you book Gardiner street ask for a room at the back ,the trafic can be busy at night

We live in the North so we've been there a lot over the years. When my children were that age they loved going on the bus tour of Dublin (its one of those on/off things that everywhere does now). One of the stops is to Trinity College which has the Book of Kells in its library - its well worth seeing and although it sounds a bit geeky the kids (not geeky) thought it was brilliant). If you are into U2 then there is a tour round different places linked with them , also a literary tour which is good. Kilmainham Jail is very interesting (lot of rebels held there in the fight for independence) and Jonathan Swift wrote Gullivers Travels when he was Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. There is also a guided tour of the crypt of St Michan's Church where there are soldiers buried from the Crusades. Don't forget the Guinness Brewery tour and adults get a free pint of Guinness at the end.

I hope this is a bit of a help.

    Photogenic
Go and see Connoly barracks (national museums) it's free and very intereting fo all ages, easy walk from city centre.

When my daughter was that age she really enjoyed the Viking Splash Tour but more so the Ghost Bus - although it is quite scary. If they are into scary things, I also recommend the Bram Stoker Dracula Experience.
