  • It depends really on who you speak to, I was on there ages ago now as I don't do it anymore but when I was last on there, there were often job postings etc.

Good networking with photographers can gain leads etc to possible jobs I would imagine too!
  • jobs on model mayhem? guess its good then? i need ones in manc.. worth contacting gap?

    JULY WINS- LABEL M PRODUCTS

  • You could contact GAP I guess but they will probaly want to know if you are with an agency etc....worth a try though, they can only say no can't they!!

The forum on Mayhem is a good place to get to know others also and ask questions!
  • ahh, im not with an agent but could i still get work? thanks, :) hopefully they could give me their view on the pics and i would love to get some work..

  • Right I'm a petite model, and let me tell you it ISN'T easy.

You certainly won't be able to just waltz into any old agency, and it's highly unlikely you will get picked for 'lingerie' campaigns.

The majority of petite models I know are in glamour as the height issue isn't such an issue in that category.

I would recommend you first building an excellent and varied portfolio of work, using some top notch photographers for this. The genuine agencies will ask for you to send them unedited, non proffessional images. However if you are of a petite height and have no experience of modelling and don't want to do glamour this will ALSO be very hard.
As others have already said use sites such as purestorm and modelmayhem. I do not bother with netmodel anymore as all I received were messages from people with one badly taken image on their profile wanting to take pictures of me naked in a bath :s

There are sites such as Alba which allow you to see bad and good agencies or Model B***** blog has a more up to date list.

You do not need an agency to get paid work, and you can network yourself using the sites mm and purestorm.
I do think you will be very limited in your choice of work.
The majority of my paid work is promotional work, as height isn't such an issue.
Oct freebies: Won a BBQ and apron (first win :rotfl:)
Dec: Stocking filler prize :D Royal Stafford/Waitrose cheese platter
Films: Footloose, Machine gun preacher, Resistance, 50/50

Alba doesn't seem to be the site it used to be,the appearance is now one of a much more commercial site . There is a new internet modelling site recently stated up called Purpleport.com that caters for all types of models and it looks well worth signing up to even though it's still being developed. I've just joined as a photographer as I want to expand into studio work from the event and gig stuff I've been doing a lot of for the last 10 years.
  • Oh right, I haven't visited it in a long time. Once you know the main top agencies, they don't really change!

Out of all sites I've found purestorm to be the most useful tool for me.
