Lookin for BMs too, Panasonic or Morphy, so many like both, but I can't have both!
Mine was a cheap one from Wilko's in their sale a couple of years ago and only cost me £14. It's neither a Panni or Morphy, but by golly it's saved me a small fortune, still going strong and I've made a whole bakers diversity of loaves in it plus cakes and jam. I know some people only buy brand names because they feel *safer* with them, but don't write off cheaper brands simply because they do not have a name you recognise.
Asda do an equivalent of the BM I have - the only difference is the name and that it is pronouncable :o;)

Regarding breadmakers , mine is a Prima one [nothing to do with the magazine] and is quite old bought at least 10 yrs ago. Used a lot at first , then found again in the cupboard in November and used a lot since.
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

I agree with your theory Queenie, but in my experience vacuam cleaners. I have had three cheapie £30 Goblin, Morphy Richards type cleaners (I do cleaning and for home) and they have outlived many a Dyson, Miele and the suction on them is still fab. I bought them from Argos maybe 10 years ago and they are still going strong. Dont always assume cheap means poor service.

It's very easy to spend when you're going old style but it's not necessary!

I really like the idea of only spending money that you've gained from amazon/ebay etc...could also put by money saved by reducing your grocery bill or using vouchers. for example if you used £2 of vouchers and saved £3 on BOGOF offers put £5 aside. that way when you really need/want that gadget you can justify it!

also, on amazon you can set up a wishlist page. It's a bit like a wedding list, you can list items for the home or books that you would like to receive as a gift. I hate it when friends ask me what I want for a present (after all, you don't know how much they were intending to spend, do you?) you can direct them to the list and they can get you something you actually want!

  • :T:T I would like to say a big thanks for the recommendation re a good value set of stainless steel saucepans. Judge is a good make, and have just ordered a set to replace my old ones - none of which nestled together too well as they were oddments.

Until I saw the Robert Dyas ones I thought it would be some time before I could replace them - but for just under £50 including postage, and the knowledge they will last for many years, it's a great deal.

    Thank you to the OP!:T :T :T
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
