How long to switch from NTL to BT?

I have my phone and BB with NTL, but lately I've been having problems with the billing, they keep billing me twice, and I have to phone to get a refund. they said it will take a few months to sort and I was thinking of switching to either sky bb or talktalk anyway.
But how long does it take to switch to BT? How long am I likely to be without BB? I used to have a bt line and BB, so they shouldn't need to upgrade the line.
