Certainly feels like it! Just booked a DIY package to lagos in Portugal. The flights and transfers from Bristol were booked through Alpha rooms. The airline is Ryanair. Was happy with the price they quoted. Reached the payment stage and was charged an eye watering £27 to pay with a debit card. It is an outrage.
If I want to register my displeasure do I take it up with Alpharooms or waste my time and effort taking it up with Ryanair? Grrrrrrrrrrr!

You do neither. Its the total cost of the package that counts .
Yes the 'extra' £27 is tough, but you can pay it . OR try and fly with some else .
Complaining will be a waste of time.0 -
I've calmed down now. I realize complaining is futile. After hours and hours of surfing and battering the cost of this holiday down that £27 surprise is like a punch in the face! The highest charges I've paid previously was only £12.0

Have enjoyed the Ryanair flight experience before?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

On a recent trip to Africa we paid £12.00 for priority boarding with Ryanair .
Admittedly they did give us priority at the terminal , but only onto the bus that took us to the aircraft , after that it was the usual scramble to board the plane . . .:D0 -

Presumably then you'd be happy with no fees and higher fares?0 -

That's why priority boarding is a waste of time and money. Either it's not enforced properly or, as you found, you are put onto a bus and those first on are the last off.
Personally, as long as I get a seat, I'm not too fussed about where I sit. I just let other people do the scambling and then calmly take a free seat.
In terms of the charges for paying, I know it seems a rip off but you just need to look at the full cost of the ticket including and baggage charges. If it's acceptable then pay it, if not then fly with someone else.0 -

Without a doubt.
I've just had a look at the Ryanair website and before I could find out the total cost I had to pick the flight and dates then watch the fare increase by 50% due to "taxes and fees", choose whether or not I wanted to add insurance, a hire car, baggage, excess baggage, musical instruments or sports equipment in my baggage and finally how I was going to pay. (which could vastly increase the total cost depending on the method of payment chosen).
So before I could get a total price that I would have to pay to enable me to compare it to other airlines, I would have to spend quite a while to go through most of the booking process.
IMO, this is a bit like going to Tesco and seeing a loaf of bread for 40p and taking it to the checkout where you are then told it will be an extra 10p VAT, 20p for the bag, 10p for the delivery charge to get it to the store and 5p for the shelf stackers wages so the "40p" loaf would actually cost me 85p.
Fair enough, but it's the way that you have to go through just about all of the booking process before this figure is known that pees off a lot of people. In terms of the charges for paying, I know it seems a rip off but you just need to look at the full cost of the ticket including and baggage charges.0 -
