Orange best plan contract cancel

Hello everyone!

Sorry if a thread already exists on this subject, i'm new to the forum and couldn't find a thread with the answers!

I am currently on a £40 a month contract with orange (24mnth panther)

Offered "best plan" which would bring it down to £20 a month, great stuff!!

My question is, if I cancelled my contract after accepting my best plan, would I have to pay it off at the original £40 a month or the new £20 a month?

Many thanks!!!!!

Your contract cancellation cost would be calculated on what was currently active - so, if you took a replacement contract at a reduced amount, then that would be the cost they would calculate. Against this, is that the clock restarts of a fresh minimum term, so the amount to be owed may in fact be greater....

Maybe you are right, but it looks pretty confusing to me:
    http://help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/support/personal/512253 :
There's no new contract to sign - you can just move over.
    http://www1.orange.co.uk/service_plans/paymonthly/bestplan_terms.html :
Customers who are still within their contract term will only be reviewed against talk plans of the same contract length and which originate from the same point of sale.
  • Thanks for the replies!

Before taking up my best plan I contacted orange who said that the new plan will run for the remainder of my original contract.

Given this information, im guessing, my cancellation fee should be charged at £20 a month for the number of remaining months.

    Agree/disagree?

    Cheers!!

    Agree (my guess).

Do you have it from them in writing? £20 instead of £40 for the remaining months and no fees?
It makes no sense to allow customers downgrading to £20 from £40, let alone to offer them downgrading.

Its part of Oranges' service, after 6 months your current plan usage is reviewed and you are offered a plan more suited to what you use your phone for.

I originally took up this offer (online via my Orange account) in order to halve the cost of my contract termination fee (since orange signal here is terrible).

So I guess I have it in writing since it was carried out via my Orange online account where you can view/pay bills.

Perhaps my original choice of words was a bit misleading?

No, it was not misleading I think.
It's the entire 'best plan' idea that is very confusing. They give you a free expensive phone on an expensive long contract and then offer you do downgrade after 6 months based on your usage? This makes no sense to me because this negates the main point of any contract. What if you don't use the airtime at all? Will they offer you to downgrade to £0?

Hahaha, if only. I see what you mean that its a bit confusing, I don't really understand it myself either. Its all over their website, they must be making alot of money out of it somehow :S
