Thanks so much for the replies. Have already been looking on job centre websites for jobs, plus in our local paper.
He's going to the citizens advice as dont know where he stands with being sacked. New job, probation for 6mths (started Oct), had no warnings, finished his jobs today and was called into office and told he doesn't get enough jobs done on his sheets everyday so they were letting him go.
Didn't expect it at all, as company hadn't raised any concerns with him, he had an audit done few weeks ago, all pleased and even had a customer ring up this week to tell them how pleased they were with the service my fiancee had provided and he was congratulated for this.
Would rather the company of spoken to him about how they wanted him to do more jobs per day rather than just sack him right away.
Im assuming he has nothing to stand on with him being on probation??Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
As he has been sacked, you won't be covered. Go to the lender and switch to interest only for the time being and also ask for a holiday payment. Then tell him to find any job and don't be so picky!
Anything to ride the waters. Good luck. The longer you leave it, the worse it gets!Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Our mortgage is part repayment part interest only, would they be willing to do things like that when the mortgage only started in Oct??
We've talked about getting rid of ntl, well the tv anyway and dropping broadband down to a lower speed. Can see this weekend being very busy with cost cutting and phone calls.
Thank you so much for all the replies, been a great help....Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
I cant find anywhere on the TSB site mentioning his credit card not being covered if he was sacked. It's not like he did anything wrong, not in my eyes anyway, he did his 8hr shifts, like all other drivers and sometimes missed 2 or 3 calls a day, but then would have to do them the next day on top of normal work.....Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160

yeah your mortgage company will be able to change the whole mortgage to interest only but they may charge you to do this. maybe if you explain your circumstances they may waive this fee but it will depend on the lender or the person on the other end of the phone.
good luck and hope everything works out0 -

Don't think this is the case with all policies unless things have changed in recent years.
For the ASU I used to sell and manage the claims on we used to pay out unless the claimant was sacked for gross misconduct. Simply being sacked for say poor performance was Ok and we would pay out.0 -
I'm on my own on an income of £660 a month and still managed to pay a mortgage off.pollyanna24 wrote:This is life these days if you want somewhere to live!
We eat very well on £45 a month actually. If you saw my children they are not what you would call skinny at all and we all have huge appetites which are very well accomodated with that £45 a month.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Might sound obvious this, but if you are going to get into arrears make sure its with your other credit, and not your mortgage. They can't reposess a house for a few months arrears on a credit card or unsecured loan. Have you thought about getting a second job yourself to help tide things over?I am a Mortgage Adviser
