I'm both Sole Trader and Director; one is on companies house, the other certainly isn't, although I don't need to be regulated in any means, except a personal taxi license. Not even the office needs to be regulated, as we don't use Private Hire drivers etc.
Is this the case here, or not?

My understanding is that you can still call yourself a Director of a Business even if it is'nt a Limited Company, but you cannot call your business a limited company unless it is registered with Companies House, to be a Director of a Limited Company means that you have to abide by strict legal rules, if you are struck off you cannot be a director of any limited companies. I dont think these strict rules apply if you call yourself a director of a non limited company.....not certain.....companies house site would confirm or not0 -

Can you show me any legislation that shows that this is the case?
We've struck off companies voluntarily before now, that we haven't needed any longer (mainly for asset separation in regard to us buying insolvent companies), and I know that I've never had a problem with a directorship afterwards.

Not sure about this, but I would guess that theres a big difference between you closing down a limited company where there is no mis-behaviour and a Limited Company closing down with debt or misbehaviour, I would think that Companies House will only strike off Directors if they suspect mis-behviour by that person at a limited company. Again I would think that a non Limited company is not controlled by Companies House and misbehaviour would be a Police matter, an accountant would tell you the exact rules.0 -
A Friend of mine also asked me about Aspire and a company named Guardian Legal whos site is nearly the same layout.
So I looked on Companies House site, Aspire is Aspire Claims Management Limited. there is one Director, the other Director Mark Warren Bagnall had 3 seperate notices to be struck off by Companies House and is no longer a Director. He was once a Director of a business called MRB Insurance Brokers in Newcastle Staffs which looks like it went bump. He seems to have ties with AMA Insurance Brokers which is named on the Aspire site and Guardian Legal which has a site virtually the same layout as Aspire, all a bit strange. He seems to be still involved in the busines as you are asked to contact Mark on the Aspire site and AMA page.
Sorry, the company with a very similar site is [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM], looking on Companies House they seem to be owned by a firm that sells on Motor Claims to Solicitors. They can make as much as £1000 a time from selling these cases and Car Hire. They would be selling Legal Protection to sell on claims. They are probably connected to Aspire for the same reason.0 -

This is more/less my personal understanding of it, although don't quote me 100%.
Sorry for the way I worded that, however your original post suggested that there was something dodgy going on in all cases, as in our case, there was nothing more dodgy than some (completely legal) tax restructuring happening.
We did appear in the gazette, however at this point it was clearly stated that 'all known creditors have been repaid in full'Sorry, the company with a very similar site is [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM], looking on Companies House they seem to be owned by a firm that sells on Motor Claims to Solicitors. If they're working out of Scotland, it may be very difficult, as they wouldn't (in my understanding of the law, IANAL) need to be registered at all.
It's a lucrative part of the business, in exactly the same way as we have almost complete control of a lucrative part of our industry. The only registration we need for the Ltd (this is my main income we're talking about, not the taxi office) is with HMRC and Companies House for VAT, NI, Tax and obviously to comply with the 2006 Companies Act.
They probably have low overheads, in exactly the same way as on a per project basis, we do (although just the office costs over £2.5m a year to run, split between 250-300 6-day projects annually, it's not that expensive).
As stated, if they're Scottish, there's nothing we can do about it.

Scottish law seems to be different to English law in many areas.
According to companies house [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] are based in Southport, so I presume they are liable to English Law, Aspire registered office is Staffordshire.
If you have left no debt in a business you closed down, why should you be penalised. I think you should be congratulated on leaving the business with a clean sheet, many people don't I think.0
