Anyone used Aspire claims £11.99p.a. - car legal insurance?

Just been looking at car insurance, comparing loads of companies online.
I found http://www.bestadviceuk.co.uk who offer stand alone legal insurance for cars at just £11.99 per annum - compared to most companies charges of normally between £29.99 - £39.99.

I've done a search here and www but don't come up with any reviews, complaints or anything on them except on their webpage.

Has anyone used them? Do you know of any threads on here about them I could look at. Thanks!

  • Anyone? Surely someone on here has used or looked into?
  • no win no fee companies are free.

  • Aspire are appointed representatives of AMA insurance which is an intermediary. You would need to look at the contract being offered to decide if it was worthwhile.

If you are eligible to join the Civil Service Motoring Association it includes free motor legal expenses for the member and their spouse for a subscription of £15 per year. To be eligible you must have worked for the Civil Service (or some organisation that was once part of the Civil Service) or be introduced by a relation who is already a member.

My wife recently had a car accident wher ethe other driver went thru a red light and hit her.

For the first time ever I hadnt took out legal aid.

Tesco offered us free legal aid anyway (as it looked like we would win the case) .

We decided to us a 'no win , no fee' option with Thompsons solicitors anyway - as Tesco's didnt impress me with their attitude and how quick they would do anything about our case.

If it was our fault , then maybe legal aid would be a real issue.
  • No win no fee will only cover you for Fast Track and above cases. If you have a low value case that fits into the Small Track of the court then they won't touch it because they cannot claim legal fees from the other party.

Some Legal Expenses providers actually pay motor insurers for selling their product (ie the motor insurer gets 100% of the money from you plus a commission from the provider!!). If you google you will find places that give it for free to people, though the quality of the products I cannot comment on.

Home Legal Expenses is different as there is many more small track claims plus you get the legal advice line all of which are costs to the providers.
  • So although this deal does looks a cheaper and better deal than the bundled cover with your car insurance, in fact it's not worth much anyway?

From what I can work out, this cover really only helps to cover your liability to pay the other party's costs if (a) you're not at fault, and (b) you go ahead with a claim and lose.

If you are at fault it doesn't apply. And if you claim with a no win no fee lawyer (and win) you don't need it either.

Looks almost as pointless as PPI...? :(

    Or am I missing something?
  • There seems to be some confusion about Motor Legal protection insurance, this is my understanding:

Legal Care - is administered by the ministry of justice and isnot an insurance product.

Legal Protection - is administered by the FSA and is an insurance product, which means that the company can not dissapear overnight with your hard earnt money.

There are also rules about terminology. Companies should not use words such as: cover, protection or insurance when selling legal care products.

A Friend of mine also asked me about Aspire and a company named [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] whos site is nearly the same layout.
So I looked on Companies House site, Aspire is Aspire Claims Management Limited. there is one Director, the other Director Mark Warren Bagnall had 3 seperate notices to be struck off by Companies House and is no longer a Director. He was once a Director of a business called MRB Insurance Brokers in Newcastle Staffs which looks like it went bump. He seems to have ties with AMA Insurance Brokers which is named on the Aspire site and [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] which has a site virtually the same layout as Aspire, all a bit strange. He seems to be still involved in the busines as you are asked to contact Mark on the Aspire site and AMA page.

And which company is still regulated?

I'm both Sole Trader and Director; one is on companies house, the other certainly isn't, although I don't need to be regulated in any means, except a personal taxi license. Not even the office needs to be regulated, as we don't use Private Hire drivers etc.

Is this the case here, or not?
