Absolutely, noone here could possibly confirm all this with first hand (pun?) knowledge.

Betamax was superior to VHS too wasn't it?
Not if you wanted to record a 90-minute movie off the TV while you were out; if I remember correctly, the original tapes were only an hour and longer ones didn't turn up for quite a while.
There are many good reasons why Betamax failed, it's not the usual urban legend of 'better format, worse marketing'.0 -

You sure about that?0 -
I don't see what you're trying to prove. That very page says a "multitude of technical drawbacks along with the proprietary nature of the Betamax format hurt it in its competition with VHS, in spite of the Betamax's superior video quality."
And also points out the one-hour recording limit was a big disadvantage compared to VHS.0 -

Betamax VCR system
Sony's proprietary recording technology produced a sharper picture than the competing VHS system, but initially could only record for 1 hour. Also, by not licencing the Betamax format, it was overwhelmed in the marketplace by the many competing, licensed VHS manufacturers. Although a failure in other markets, the Betamax format achieved some success in parts of Asia, and in the broadcast industry under the Betacam name.0 -
And?
Maybe rather than posting links and quotes, you could try actually saying what you're trying to prove.0 -

Thought so you have no proof do you, At least I gave evidence as where you gave nothing but your own interpretation, facts are
It may have been a technical nightmare and only 1hour (was going to be extended) but the geeks who had the task of rolling out Betamax took their eye off the ball and lost out by a superior marketing plan and a !!!!!! industry that sucked Sony dry (so to speak)

Of what?
Let me repeat what I said, and leave you to read your own Wikipedia page which supports exactly what I said: "There are many good reasons why Betamax failed, it's not the usual urban legend of 'better format, worse marketing'."
Otherwise, since you don't seem to be able to explain what you're talking about, I don't see any point in continuing this thread.0
